On Friday 14th May, 2021, Oregun Area of Lagos State bubbled, as a popular businesswoman, the CEO of BIJOUX BOX, Bukky Adekola and siblings buried their mother, the late Madam Olufunke Olatundun Adekola, in grand style.
All roads that lead to Yard 158 in Oregun experienced heavy traffic flow, which kept many wondering about an event that was to literally shake the whole area and its environ to their foundation. As many dignitaries trooped in from all walks of life to celebrate the life well spent of an icon, late Madam Olufunke Olatundundun Adekola.
Madam Olufunke Olatundun Adekola, in her lifetime, was a loving, caring, wonderful person and perfectionist. A woman who refused to accept any standard short of perfection. A woman of honour and a disciplinarian. According to her first daughter, Madam Olufunke Olatundun Adekolan was a woman who forever would be remembered for a life well spent and many lessons she left as legacies, “my mummy was a kind hearted and industrious woman. She love everybody around her and she gave to everybody around her regardless of who you are and where you come from. She was very accommodating. She was a staunch Christian. She was a believer in the word of God, and she instill that into the lifes of her children and the immediate family. She was a very strong and no-nonsense woman, but very kind. In the church of God, she was so generous, even amongst her family she was No 1, she gives selflessly. That is one thing we are going to miss about her; her natural giving policy. Carrying everybody along and making sure the home front is solid. So many things we are going to miss about her”.
The celebration of life for late Madam Olufunke Olatundun Adekola started from Wednesday 12th May, 2021 with service of songs at her residence, No 1, Oladokun Avenue Seliat Bus Stop, Idimu road, Egbeda Lagos. Followed by lying in state and Christian wake on Thursday 13th May, 2021.
AT THE CHURCH
The funeral service was held at St Paul’s Anglican Church, 7/9 Coker road Ilupeju, Lagos, in the morning and the officiating ministers who were on ground, prayed for the repose of the soul of the late Madam Olufunke Olatundun Adekola, while they interceded on the family’s behalf for the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss. After the church service, the corpse which was in white glossy casket was ferried by the undertakers into a hearse as its journey to its final resting place began. The internment took place immediately at Omega Funeral Home, which was strictly for immediate family only.
WHAT THE PREACHER SAID
Are you of Christ? If yes, then, heaven is sure for you. Eternal rest is sure for you, because Jesus is the only one who has the key to eternity. These were the words of God from the brief exhortation given by one of the officiating ministers. He made mention of many good works of Madam Olufunke Olatundun Adekola when she was alive. How she was steadfast and committed to the work of God.
LET’S TALK ABOUT THE EVENT AFTER SERVICE
Just immediately after the benediction, as the undertakers were about to ferry the remains of Late Madam Madam Olufunke Olatundun Adekola to her final resting place, there were lovely rhythms from the undertaker’s band boys. The lovely song and beat thrilled every guest present and many started dancing, including some the children of the deceased too, who have many reasons to thank God for their mothers’ well-spent life. Bukky Adekola wasn’t left out as well, as she danced with some of her friends.
AND RECEPTION FOLLOWS IMMEDIATELY
After the burial, the ceremony moved straight to the reception venue, Yard 158, Event Arena situated at plot 34, Kuburat Abiola Way, Oregun, Ikeja, where a classy reception was held. What unfolded at the reception was more than just classy. It was glamorous and posh. Beautiful women dazzled in the Ankara Aso-Ebi. Foods were served accordingly, and it was complemented with assorted wine and drinks of choice.

The Aso-Ebi picked for the event was very beautiful. It has a touch of yellow with purple. Many celebrity and beautiful ladies did justice to it. Many dazzled in nice styles and complemented it with nice jewellery.

Many of Bukky Adekola’s friends are well to do. They stood solidly for her. Some of them came from different countries to honour her. They were all seen moving round, making sure that everything went well.

One of Bukky’s friends who played host at the party is Moji Toyobo, the CEO of Dazzling Boutique in Opebi. She was seen supporting and attending to many of the guests. She was also in-charge of the sourvenir.

One of the things that made the event a memorable one was the way the siblings attended to their guests. None of the siblings sat all through. They were all busy attending to their guests. Even the first daughter of the family, Olori Olayinka Ajayi, was with her attendants all through.

Femi Solar band truly knows how to make guests dance to their tunes The band, led by Femi Solar himself from Ibadan did very well and made the event a worthwhile.
