The popular Redeemed Christian Church of God Redemption Camp, along Lagos Ibadan Express Way, saw a 2-day Burial Ceremony of one of its own, Deaconess Olufunmilola Morayo Adeyemi (nee AKINBO), of The Lord’s House Parish (Akute) and Solid Rock Parish, Ojodu ( in earlier years).
The Service of Songs was held on Wednesday 15th, Sept. 2021 at 4 pm while the Burial itself took place the next day, Thursday,16th Sept. 2021. Interment was at the Rccg Memorial Garden, Estate 14, Redemption Camp. And RCCG Open Heaven Zone hosted the 2 ceremonies.
At the Wake Keep which saw Praise and Worship ministration by the Lord’s House Parish Choir, Bible Readings by the Widower and 2 of the children. Announcements, Testimonies ( by the immediate younger sister of the deceased, Deaconess Olufunke Adeshina, In-Law, Pastor Oshunlalu both of RCCG among others. Exhortation and prayers were done by some of the Ministers present, like Pastors Adeshina, Nnamdi Adeyinka and Revd Adeniyi from the Anglican Church.
There was praise and worship by the combined Choir of The Lord’s House and Solid Rock Parishes of Lagos Province 40, RCCG. The moving of the Body in with Processional hymn 80, “God The Lord is King before Him earth’. After Prayers, there was a Bible Reading of 1 Thessalonians 4: 13-18 by the Son of the deceased, followed by the reading of the Biography by her first daughter. The Choir gave a special number and there was an exhortation by the designated Minister. More prayers for the family, paying of last respect by all present and appreciation by the Widower, Mr Muyiwa Adeyemi. Thereafter, everyone proceeded with the body to nearby RCCG Memorial Garden, where more singing like, ‘ Nearer My God to Thee, Prayers, interment and words were done. Officiating Ministers included Pastors Awolalu, Wright, Tedela, Nnamdi, Ikpemba, Aguda and Deacon Ebhohimen.
For the two days event, guests included friends and family, Colleagues of the deceased and Widower, a large delegation of the Alumni Association of Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Ogun State, RCCG Members and Church of the Lord Prayer Fellowship Worldwide, and so many well Wishers.
Who is Olufunmilola Morayo Adeyemi ( Nee Akinbo)? We can tell you a lot about her. She was born on the 24th of November, 1970, to the families of late Akinbo Dido (The Odibaraka of Ojuala) and Evangelist Florence Akinbo ( nee Olawoye). The 2 families are from Apoiland of Ojuala and Sabomi, Ese Odo LGA of Ondo State. A second of seven children, she was raised in Aguda, Surulere, Lagos State where she attended Premier and Baptist Academy Primary Schools. Then Itolo Girls Secondary School, Eric Moore, Lagos, before proceeding to the Prestigious Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, Ogun State, Nigeria in the 90s to study Accountancy. She served her country in the National Youth Service Corps(NYSC) in Abia State, during which she studied Computer Science at the Federal University of Technology ( FUTO), Aba Centre. It was during her Service year at Aba that she met Mr Olumuyiwa Adeyemi and they got married in the year 2000. Their family is blessed with four lovely children. Oluwaseun, Mosopefoluwa , Temiloluwa and Opemiposi.As a Couple who complimented and supported each other, Funmilola ran her Lee Venture Business and travelled regularly with her family to places like the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Turkey, Dubai etc to stock her Boutique. As well as running various other businesses like Soap and Perfume Making. Despite Mr Adeyemi’s years of working in the corporate sector and their busy schedules, both of them rose to Deacon and Deaconess positions in the Redeemed. Christian Church of God ( RCCG), and even Assistant Pastor position for Mr Adeyemi. Deaconess Funmilola formative years in Church included The Church of the Lord Aladura, founded in 1925. The Church of her birth, in which her Mother remains a staunch member. And C&S Church Movement Ayo Ni O, the Church of her youth, where she got married. She belonged to the Choir of all the Churches she attended and was known to be very dedicated. After years of worshipping at the very popular RCCG Solid Rock Parish(Ojodu Lagos), she and her family were transferred to RCCG, Lord’s House Parish, Akute. She was the HOD of the Choir Department, Welfare Officer of the Women Executive Group and a Sunday School Teacher. She was known to be calm and gentle, yet quite social and a prominent Member of her Alumni, family, Business and Church Associations. She was many good things to different people who knew her. A daughter, Sister, wife Mother, friend. She was called to glory on Tuesday, the 24th of August, 2021, after a few years of ill health. Many agree that Deaconess (Mrs) Funmilola Morayo Adeyemi lived a good life that was shaped by great family, Christian and marital values.
She is survived by her dedicated and loving husband, young children, six siblings, Mother and In-Laws. She will surely be missed. May her gentle soul Rest in Peace.
