Emilia Asim-Ita, co-founder of The Future Awards, is dead

Emilia Asim-Ita, a former Red Media partner and co-founder of The Future Awards, has passed away.

The graduate of mass communication breathed her last on Friday. The cause of her death is, however, yet to be revealed.

The management of A’Lime Media, her organisation, confirmed the sad news in a short message on its social media page on Friday.

“Words fail us. ⁣You were more than a boss. You were a friend, an inspiration and an outstanding person.⁣ You will forever remain in our hearts.⁣ Rest well, Emilia,” it wrote.

In 2005, Emilia co-founded The Future Awards/The Future Nigeria project alongside Chude Jideonwo and Debola Williams and was the PR/marketing director for the conveying organisation, RedSTRAT communications (now RED Media) for six years.

Before her demise, she was the founder and practise director of AML media, a multi-disciplinary, strategic communications firm she founded in 2010 after ending her partnership with Jideonwo and Williams.

Prior to A’Lime Media, she co-founded ThistlePraxis, one of the foremost indigenous management consulting companies focused on sustainability and CSR.

She has also been strategy & communications director, 3AL, associate producer and content director, The Academy and Amstel Malta Box Office Reality shows.

She started her career as a presenter, book review segment, ‘Mind Your Grammar’ on NTA 2 Channel 5 before working as a presenter on ‘Youth Talk with Emilia’ on NTA Network service for five years.

Tributes have continued to pour in from friends, fans and colleagues in the industry.
