Few weeks back, precisely 10th August 2019, a real estate guru who is also the MD/CEO of EUC Homes, Chief Ben Odunzeh was conferred with a Chieftaincy title as the Babalaje of Ibejuland, alongside his beautiful wife, who was also made Iyalaje of Ibejuland.
Chief Ben Odunzeh is one of the biggest landowners in Ibeju axis. He owns more than 50 per cent of the land in Ibeju town, alone. In the last few years, his contribution has been felt in the community, as he contributed to the development of the town.
Few months back, City People visited the king in his palace and he told us the positive contributions of the firm which is headed by the new Babalaje of the town, Chief Ben Odunzeh.
So on, 11th of August, he was conferred with the title and Tuesday, 13th, August, 2019 was the coronation ceremony, an event that took place at His Royal Majesty, Oba Rafiu Olusegun Bamidele Salami’s palace.
The official artiste of the day was the popular Fuji musician, Adewale Ayuba. It was a day we witnessed Igbo and Yoruba coming together to celebrate one man.
At the event, the new Babalaje of Ibeju-Land spoke with City People about his new title and how he feels as the new Chief of Ibejuland.
He said, he feels good as Babalaje of Ibejuland. “I feel good. I feel so humbled. I feel so blessed. I thank Almighty God and the Paramount Ruler of Ibejuland, Oba Rafiu Olusegun Salami. He also spoke about the role he would be playing as Babalaje. “I intend to carry out my role out properly. I will liaise with other chiefs, and of course, the paramount ruler of Ibejuland and make sure the great kingdom of Ibeju kingdom and Ibejuland move forward and get it more developed”. He also said, he was humbled when he was told he would become the Babalaje of Ibejuland “I feel so humbled. Oba Rafiu Salami is a special king. I strongly urge others, both in Iboland, Hausaland to start taking the same way Oba Rafiu has done because we are all Nigerians. I was born here in Lagos but I must confess I am very humble. I am highly impressed, and of course have put in a lot of work here in Ibeju Lekki, when it comes to the development of the community and I believe I am a son of this community.
