The leader and founder of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Ayodele Elijah, has also spoken about the political crisis lingering in Edo state. As it is characteristic of the prophet, he had made some prophecies about the political troubles now brewing in Edo state since last year long before they happened. In this brief chat with City People’s Senior Editor, WALE LAWAL (08037209290), he shared his thoughts on the political crisis in the state and what God is saying to the sitting governor, Godwin Obaseki.
Let me draw your attention back to last year when the current edition of your book, ‘Warning To The Nations’ that will soon be replaced by another one was released. I want to take you to page 50 of that book where you spoke extensively about all the political happenings that would unfold in Edo state. You spoke about the troubles the Governor, Godwin Obsaseki will encounter and also spoke very clearly about the various meetings with several interest groups, the APC leadership and the governors. It was as though you already saw everything clearly and governor Obaseki was only playing to the script, how did you foresee all these and were you able to have a one on one meeting with Obaseki at the time?
Every year we release, ‘Warning To The Nations.’ Why I did not send the book to him is that, when the APC picked Oshiomhole, I spoke about it in an interview published in the Vanguard newspaper. The interview was conducted by Bashir Faka, I’m talking about just a couple of years ago even before the elections was conducted. I said Obaseki will win o, but there will be a fight between Obaseki and Oshiomhole. There was this journalist with the NTA then who used his column in the newspaper to publish everything that I said. That is the reason why I did not send the book to him. That’s the reason why I did not make any effort to see him. And I am being also very careful because when people see you with politicians, they will start saying another thing. When the Ondo State elections was about to take place, I said the APC ticket would be between Akeredolu and Boroface, I did not meet with either Akeredolu or Boroface. In Ekiti state, I said the battle for the ticket will be between Oni and Fayemi, those were the sellable candidates. When the Democrats in the U.S. were set to pick the flag bearer, I said the best candidate is Joe Biden and it happened that way. I did not seek any appointment to meet with governor Obaseki, but the point is that Obaseki is not listening. If Obaseki does the needful, he will win the primaries. When you’re fighting, you need men of God that will be directing you. But some of them don’t understand these things and that’s why they fail. And let me tell you, Obaseki versus Eze –Iyamu, without manipulations, Obaseki will defeat Eze-Iyamu. If Eze-Iyamu takes the office by force or manipulation, his time will be worse than Obaseki’s own and he will face a lot of crisis. And don’t think that the elections will go peacefully because anybody who wins should expect court series of cases. The thing is, Adams Oshiomhole will not listen to Obaseki at all, he has remained bent on destroying Obaseki. And Obaseki is weak, he’s not a strong man. And his biggest problem is that he has not gotten God involved in this matter.
He would’ve been directed on the steps to take. He would’ve been told this is how to do it, this is how to go about it, don’t do it this way, do it that way, etc. You need God to survive situations like this. That is exactly what happened to Ambode, if you belittle God, you will have trouble. You can never get it right. I keep saying it, you cannot separate God from government or governance and you cannot get religion out of politics. The two go together. Nobody survives without God’s input. Whether you believe in God or not, no country survives without God’s input. Listen, before America and the UN crisis, we said that the two will have issues because UN’s funds will be reduced by the U.S. Look at it here in the book (shows the prophecy in the book) and many were wondering, how did he know that this will happen? This is the way God works. These are the things that God will tell His prophets. He will warn you of the impending danger ahead. But here in Nigeria, when you say things like this, people will take it to mean something else.
