Below are the excerpts of the interview.
What is your name and what do you do?
My name is Moses Adeyemi, I am the CEO of Harmony Voices Band and on the other side, I plan and package events.
Which of these activities did you start with in life?
I started with music because I am a born musician, I have been in music all my life and I am still very active as a musician. I celebrated my 21 years on stage just 2 months ago. I am known as a gospel musician but I do a lot of parties too.
Can you take use through your early years as a musician?
It was a very long journey but I started from my church choir because I love music. My parents were always supportive and they never discouraged me. They found out that I was peculiar with this and since they received a message that they should leave me to do whatever I wanted to do. So whenever I tell them what I want to do they would support me; then I went on to play alongside Segun Bucknor in the ’90s, KK band and a lot of all of those people from who I learnt a lot from By 1996 I released my first demo as a musician then in the year 2000 I met Joke Silver I worked under Lufodu productions where I learnt a lot about planning event. After working with Joke Silver in the year 2000, the Harmony band started getting jobs on our own as a band and to the glory of God, the Harmony band has been everywhere. We have played in Canada, the USA, London and even Dubai, Harmony band is known everywhere for gospel music and parties.
What eye opening challenge did you pass through as a musician?
In 1998, I had a competition in the National Stadium but I played good music in the wrong place and we were sent off the stage with pure water sachet. I learnt a lot from this experience and it has helped me decide on what music to play at what place. At the National Stadium, people wanted to stay jovial so I should have played that. That was a learning process but now Harmony band is known everywhere, we played at Governor Seyi Makinde’s birthday last year; Governor Mimiko also calls us when he has any event to do. Harmony band has been ever active.
How do you combine colours been a man in the event planning business?
When I worked with Joke Silver I learnt a lot so I know how to match colours when it comes to any event I deal with. I also have good people around me like the light guys, the sound guys and everybody. We work as a team so for Harmony Voices entertainment we helped package a lot of events like Omo Omole’s 15 years on stage which was a huge success. So combining all of this depends on who I work with and all of my international exposure. When I work I try to set a standard that others will run to meet up with.
How do you manage being a musician and an event planner together?
Being a musician helped me when I started doing events because as an active musician it was easy because the job is not for a lazy person because you can have events at consecutive times. My size deceives people a lot but people close to me refer to me as a machine but it has been a part of me from young because I like to be active.
