•What IBADAN’s Social-Scene Will Miss About Him
Ibadan social scene was thrown into a mournful state penultimate weekend when 45 years old Alhaji Teslim Ajao Olaleye popularly known as “Gattuso” was killed in Iyaganku area of Ibadan.
The popular socialite who is one of the Ibadan happening guys met his untimely death just a few hours before he was to propose to his wife-to-be. The 45 years old Gattuso was not married neither did he has a child out of wedlock. Though he was said to have been so loved by many Ibadan celebrity babes, but he was taking things cool until he met his end at a popular hotel “NIC” in Iyangakun area of Ibadan.
How did we know he was to propose to his wife-to-be? Those who are close to the Ibadan socialite revealed that he posted a photograph of a ring on his status on social media, stating that he was going to dazzle one tonight. A close friend of his, who is also on his WhatsApp status revealed that he discussed how he was going to surprise his fiancee that night. He was even quoted to have blocked her (wife-to-be) on his WhatsApp status and those who could give her a hint of what could happen that night.
That Saturday, 23rd of January, looked like every other day to Gattuso until he walked into NIC hotel where he had invited some of his friends and his wife-to-be. The day, which would have been a memorable one for him and friends became the saddest when he walked into fleeing robbers at the reception of the hotel. The handsome dude, who was on a call as he walked into the reception was about leaving the hall when he noticed some abnormality and robbery going on. Immediately the hoodlums, City People learnt, saw him making a call, they fired at him and quickly left the scene. He was dead before he could even be taken to hospital.
Gattuso’s death came exactly 13 weeks after he celebrated his birthday. Even his last pictures which many used Rip were his birthday pictures. Gattuso was not just a socialite, he was also a strong APC member who was very close to many Oyo politicians. When the late Governor, Abiola Ajimobi was alive, his abode was like his 2nd home to him. They were so close. He was also very close to Fuji living legend, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal. So also, Hon. Shina Peller and his best friend, Mr White. He was also very close to Hon. Tegbe and a former Deputy Governor of Central Bank, Bayo Adelabu Penkelemessi. Many will surely miss him on Lagos and Oyo social scene. He was a happening guy in Ibadan.
According to a post shared by Ibadan Mesi Ogo page on Facebook, it revealed how the socialite, Mr. Olaleye popularly known as “Gattuso” was killed at Iyaganku.
According to a bystander, Gattuso was on a phone call when the gunmen saw him and shot him, believing that he was calling on security agents nearby.
It was learnt that Gattuso was shot dead after the armed robbers had completed their operation.
Many of his friends had also gone to his page to drop condolence messages. Hear them:” You may have gone for now, but you live forever in people’s memories and their hearts, may his gentle soul rest in peace.
Another friend wrote “Gosh, I have known this guy since his days as at Ogbomoso in Oyo State. Another wrote; “Rest on Gattuso, even if we had political differences, which we dey always get, Rest in Peace.”
Gattuso whose remains are still at the mortuary is survived by his aged mother and siblings.
