She is from the Eastern part of Nigeria and she started her brand with zero Capital.
Sophie Couture is the biggest Boutique on Adeniran Ogunsanya Street, Surulere. It shares the same building with DHL. Of course that is not the only pace where Sophie Couture is in Lagos. It is also on the popular Admiralty Way in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.
City People Magazine gathered that Sophie Couture sells strictly branded fashion items from Gucci, Praia, Burbery to mention but a few. Those who know revealed that the brand is 13years old but has being able to stand out among many.
While many are counting their losses during this lockdown, Sophie Couture boss is seriously making her millions. She is one of the rich celebrity entrepreneurs who are making money during this lock down. She embarked on huge Mega Sales on her Instagram page where she sells all branded prices
How did she start her brand? What has sustained her brand for years?
According Sophie Couture boss she explained that she has been running her brand for over 13years. “ I have been running Sophie Couture for over 13years. Though I use to work in a shipping company for 11years. It was while I was there and whenever I wear things, people at the office will ask me where I got them.
So, I will go to the Island to buy and sell to them. What I did then is to add few change on the price of the cloth and collect money from them. So I can say that I didn’t start with Capital then. After I got Capital, I ordered from abroad and go to the border to go and Send Cash because there was no Western Union then.
After that, I started going abroad to buy Original branded brand, I used to travel on Friday nights and start shopping immediately when I land. I always shop all day and take another flight back because I have to be at the office on Monday. This was how I started till I got a shop in Surulere.
Speaking on her journey to Surulere she explained that “Well just like every entrepreneur has a story, I do have a story also. I started Sophie Couture at number 45 Adeniran Ogunsanya street in Lagos in a small generator house kind of shop.
Its was so small but that was how much my capital could afford. I had shop attendant but I was still working. You won’t see me there unless you come weekends, so I will travel during Leave to stock up. I was doing this until I got a bigger palace at number 90 Adeniran Ogunsanya and then now our current location.
We also have another branch on Admiralty Way in Lekki Phase1. So I was working at the shipping firm till 2years ago when I had to resign seeing that the brand is big and people need my attention. I resigned and faced Sophie Couture fully, “ she revealed.
When the lock down started 3weeks ago, Sophie Couture who has never gone down on. Sales in her 14years journey as an entrepreneur revealed that she decided to make use of the opportunity.
She said she decided to do that in a different manner. She did a Mega Sales as she ordered that all the branded fashion items must get to a particular number before she commenced sales on them. Of course, she was able to achieve that all her branded luxury commodity was sold out in 24 hours.
What stands her brand out? Its is Value for money and selling strictly Quality original brand. People who know my brand will tell you that I stand for Quality.
The graduate of Banking and Finarce from one of the prestigious universities and also has her Masters from Unilag. She started working with Mediterrean Shipping before she moved to GAC shipping 13 years ago.
Speaking on how she feels when they tell her she runs one of the biggest boutiques in Lagos, she says. “ I ALWAYS FEEL GOOD. SEEING THAT WHAT I STARTED like a joke has become a big brand among the ones many super rich Lagos big babes now associate with.
