Mrs Bamidele Elizabeth is the CEO of Godmade Homes; one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing property development company. It has its head office in Gbagada area of Lagos.
Over the last few years, the company has developed several housing estates in Lagos, and one of the recent projects which have caught people’s attention is Godmade Connect Court mini-housing estate, inside Harmony Estate, opposite Gbagada Estate Phase 2.
A few months back, the company launched another project inside Parkview Estate in Ikoyi which is still currently selling.
Mrs Bamidele who has worked for several years as a Civil Servant spoke to City People’s ISAAC ABIMBADE, last week about their estates. She revealed how people can own houses with ease. Many of their projects is in the high brow of Lagos.
The latest which is selling fast now is the Godmade Connect Court Phase II in the Lekki Phase 1 area of Lagos. A few weeks back, the company signed an important document with the landowner and now, work has commenced on the land. In a few months time, this project would have been sold out to people who want to live in Lekki, where the project is situated. Below are excerpts from the interview.
We understand this is the second time you are meeting with the landowner in order to finalise the agreement between the two parties, to ensure your new Lekki housing project takes off on time. Tell us what transpired at your first meeting and today’s meeting?
The first time we met with the landowner was the time we signed the Joint-Venture agreement and the revocable power of Attorney that the landowner gave to us as the authority to sell the property to be built on the land. While the joint venture is the agreement that we reach that we are going into partnership on the new estate (Godmade Connect Court). He’s giving the land, while we develop. That’s what took place at our first meeting sometimes in April.
Today, we are rounding off the signing of the document. The document we signed today is the deed-of-assignment that will be given to each buyer and also the custody agreement. The custody agreement is the document on the property that needed to be kept with a 3rd party. The 3rd party between us is a top Mortgage bank. For every potential buyer, 2 things are key; the location and title of the property.
Tell us more about this (title)?
At the moment, we have a government consent as title. This will make every potential buyer to have a rest of mind because this shows the property has a guarantee and it has a government backing. The location of the property is another attraction to every potential buyer. It is at the 3rd roundabout, Lekki Phase 1. It’s directly opposite expressway.
We have a lot of unique and special houses in Lekki, what advantage does your new housing estate. (Godmade Connect Court) has over others?
One of the advantages is that we are bringing Ikoyi standard into the Lekki area. What I mean by that is, in Lekki the normal size of a sitting room is between 13-15 metre, but Godmade Connect Court is coming up with 32 metres, which will be massive for every buyer. These apply to both the sitting room and bedroom. Some of the facilities of our new estate include a swimming pool, outdoor lounge, basketball court for our residents, and many others.
How long will this project take to be complete?
It’s just 2 years project. Another opportunity an off-taker will have is that you can be paying instrumentally within the project duration (2years).
For those who want to know the specific place the project is situated, it is at the 3rd roundabout. Godmade Connect Court is at No 1, Bamidele Ogunbowale Crescent, opposite Nike Art Gallery, Lekki Phase 1.
What other attraction an off-taker can benefit?
There are a lot of advantages off-takers can benefit. For example, apart from the flexible payment which is available to them, they also have the opportunity to choose their choice apartment.
Some people would say I want 1st floor, second floor. They have this opportunity. Another opportunity available to them is that they have the opportunity to choose the kind of finishing they want/prefer. Some people may say I want this type of tiles; I want this kind of light. I want my windows to be this; I want my doors to be this. They have the opportunity to choose the type of material that suits their needs.
Tell us more about your company, Godmade Homes and the antecedent of the company?
As at today, we are proud to say that we have been able to complete our project which is Godmade Connect Court Phase I in Gbagada. I can tell you that there’s none to it in the whole of Ifako area.
Even the Phase 2 that is ongoing on the same street, it is a property everybody would want to own, except you don’t have money. We have good security in place, as well.
Godmade Connect Court Phase 1 is Inside Harmony Estate, Gbagada. It’s a 15 unit block of flats. Precisely, we have 13 units of 3 bedrooms and 2 penthouses.
