The Nigerian army has announced the arrest of at least eight suspects who allegedly disrupted the 2019 presidential election in Rivers state.

Army spokesman, Sagir Musa, while parading the suspects at the 6 division of the Nigerian army, Port Harcourt, on Tuesday, said the suspects confessed to be working for Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers state.

He said they had posed as staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and tampered with electoral materials.

He also said the army has on record phone conversations between the suspects and the governor.

The suspects were paraded before journalists at the division headquarters.

They were subsequently taken out to where the army said a “car of Rivers state of government which they used” in their operation was parked.
