Women have continued to play a pivotal role in the telecommunications industry in the country. Some of the consequential positions in this industry are held by our mothers, wives and sisters. As part of our series on those who run this industry in Nigeria, City People’s KELECHI OKORIE brings you the Big Girls who make things happen at Airtel Nigeria.
SEUN ADARAMOLA
She is the Senior Manager, Brand Manager at Airtel Nigeria. A graduate of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Adaramola obtained Masters Degree in Business Administration (M.B.A.), Administration and Management from the University of Leeds. She began her career at Warroom Soulsight Ltd as a Brand Strategist. She later became a Brand Manager at InterSwitch Limited. She later moved over to Microsoft where she was Segment Marketing Lead. She joined Airtel in 2016.
SARWI ‘RAHAMAN
An Economics graduate of the University of Abuja, she obtained her Post Graduate Diploma at Manchester Business School. She is one of the most experienced women in the telecommunications industry in Nigeria, having joined Airtel in 2003 when it was known as Econet Wireless and late Vmobile Nigeria. She has risen through the ranks to become Head, Enterprise Customer Service at Airtel Nigeria. Positions she has held in the past include Head, High Value Experience, Program Manager, Specialist, CEM & CRM Strategy and Supervisor, Customer Interaction Centre.
PRISCILLA AVISHIGH
A graduate of University of Jos where she obtained Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Sociology, Priscilla is currently the Zonal Activation Executive at Airtel Nigeria. She has racked up quite some experience with the company as she joined in 2008. She has been the Area Retail Sales Manager and Area Sales Manager at the company. She rose to her current position in October 2017.
UGONNA UZOMAH
She is the Regional Head, Enterprise Business, North at Airtel Nigeria. She obtained Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Mathematics and Computer Science from the Federal University of Technology Owerri. She later Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Calabar. She joined Airtel in 2006 as Manager, Retail Shops & Franchise North, March 2006 and later became Area Business Manage, Corporations, SME & Retail, North, Nigeria. She rose through various positions to arrive at her current position in 2014.
BUNMI ABEJIRIN
She is the Head, Customer Experience at Airtel Nigeria. She is experienced in Omni Channel Experience Strategy, Retail Sales & CRM deliverables. She was a regional Head at Airtel before her current position. Meanwhile she worked in Globacom where she was Head, Customer Relationship Management Group before her move to Airtel. A graduate of University of Ilorin where she obtained her B.A degree, she obtained her master’s degree from the University of Ibadan and has also pursued post graduate studies at Harvard University.
TEMITOPE ABA
She is Manager, Talent Acquisition at Airtel Nigeria. She has held this position since 20016. She joined Airtel from the UBA Group where she was Deputy Manager, Learning and Development. At Zenith Bank, she had also been Team Lead, Learning Management (Orientation/Offshore Programs Units). She is a graduate of Ogun State University where she obtained where she obtained Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Mathematics.
TOYIN SERIKI
She is Head; SME Sales at Airtel Nigeria. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Lagos and late obtained her Masters of Business Administration in Marketing from the same institution. She joined Airtel Nigeria at its teething stage in 2002 when it was still known as Econet Wireless Nigeria. She was Specialist, Distribution, SouthWest for 7 years before she moved for to Etisalat Nigeria as Manager, Corporate Sales. He rejoined Airtel from Etisalat in 2013 as Senior Manager, Corporate Segments.
IBIYINKA DADA
She is the Digital Media Manager at Airtel Nigeria. Before she joined Airtel in 2016, she was the Digital Marketing Specialist, Aqua Agency. She has also worked as Digital Marketing Lead at Finance & Investment Limited and also as Marketing Lead at WeChat West Africa (Naspers Group). A graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, she has also worked as Digital Account Executive, Digital Account Executive, Terragon Limited.
OPEYEMI LAWAL
She is the Senior Manager Brand, Advertising & Digital. She is a graduate of University of Ilorin where she obtained Bachelor’s degree Mathematics. She pursued her post graduate studies in marketing from Jim Stengel Young Marketers Academy. She joined Airtel in 2016 as Senior Manager Brand, Advertising & Digital. Before then, she was Manager, High Value Sponsorships at Etisalat Nigeria. She has also worked in the banking sector as Consumer Banking Group Consumer at Oceanic Bank International Plc.
Olachi Oruye
She is Head New Product Assurance at Airtel Nigeria. She is akin to a pioneer staff in the company, having joined in January 2002 when Econet Wireless was just few months old. This was after her stint with Guaranty Trust Bank where she worked from 1998 as Legal Officer and rose to become Assistant Banking Officer. She joined Econet as Senior Accountant Credit Control. She is a graduate of University of Nigeria Nsukka, Enugu Campus where she studied Law.
CHINEZE AJUA
She is currently the Senior Manager, Network Active and Marketing Sourcing at Airtel. A graduate of University of Calabar where she obtained Bachelor’s degree in field of Geology/Earth Science, General, she joined Airtel in 2008 when it was still known as Zain Nigeria as Manager, Vendor & Purchase Order Management. She has also been Head, Head Warehouse & Logistics at Airtel and Head Operational Procurement at Airtel Nigeria.
LYNDA AMECHI
She is currently National Lead, Retail and Franchise at Airtel Nigeria. She is one of the most experienced women in the field of telecommunications in the country. A graduate of University of Lagos where she obtained her Master of Business Administration (MBA) Marketing/Marketing Management, General, She also obtained Master’s degree from DeVry University’s Keller Graduate School of Management-Georgia in Project Management and another Master’s degree in Human Resources Management and Services MHRM at the same institution. While in the United States, She worked as Projects (Provisioning Specialist) at AT&T Mobility (Bellsouth) at Greater Atlanta Area. She was also a Financial Service Specialist and later a Manager at SunTrust Bank also in Atlanta. She was Project Consultant – Business Operations/New Product Development at Verizon Wireless before she was plucked as an expatriate staff by Visafone Communications Limited in 2010 to become Head, Customer Care/Call Centre and later Head, Retail Market Development and Service Delivery. She joined Airtel in 2016 as Regional Head, Retail & Franchise.
