Let us reveal to you that the bank has a solid Board of Directors headed by Alhaji Hussani Dikko as Chairman. Other members include Walter Akpani (MD/CEO), Kingsley Aigbokhaevbo (ED), Chuka Eseka (Non-ED), Bernadine Okeke (Non-ED), Maurice Onokwai (NOn-Ed) and Funmi Agusto (Non ED).

The day to day affairs of the bank is run by Walter Akpani a seasoned banker with over 2 decades experience. He holds a Masters of Science degree in Finance from the University of Strathclyde, Scotland.

His career trajectory has been through Natwest Bank UK, ICON Merchant Bank/ICON Stockbrokers, Commercial Trust Bank, Standard Trust Bank Plc and Platinum Bank Limited.

Walter has been actively involved in bank start-ups in Nigeria. He was a pioneer staff member with ICON Stockbrokers, restructuring team member at Commercial Trust Bank, pioneer staff at Standard Trust Bank Plc now United Bank for Africa, UBA and pioneer staff at Platinum Bank Ltd.

He is a distinguished Treasurer in the Nigerian banking Industry, having led the Treasury departments of ICON Stockbrokers and Commercial Trust Bank. He also served as Group Head, Financial Institutions department in Standard Trust Bank and Group Head, Investment Banking at Platinum Bank Limited.

Walter disengaged from Platinum Bank Ltd, as Vice President, Institutional Banking: to start United Mortgage Bank Limited which has now metamorphosed into ProvidusBank.

A change agent with very strong interpersonal skills and industry depth, Walter Akpani is well respected within and outside the industry and has been able to build up an effective network of contacts and associates in most strategic sectors of the Nigerian economy.

Walter plays Tennis and is actively involved in the development of Youth Tennis in Nigeria.

KINGSLEY AIGBOKHAEVBO, (ED)

He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN. He holds a B.Sc. (Honours) degree in Agricultural Economics, graduating with a second-class upper division, from the University of Ibadan and a Masters degree in Banking and Finance (MBF) from the University of Lagos.

Kingsley has over two decades of banking experience with over 10 years at senior management positions. His banking career includes key positions in Internal Control and Audit, Corporate Banking, and Marketing.

He started his banking profession in Zenith Bank Plc, where he spent the bulk of his career.

He rose to the position of General Manager/Group Zonal Head, Victoria Island Annex Zone, with responsibilities for driving business initiatives. He left Zenith Bank Plc. In 2007 and joined United Bank for Africa Plc as General Manager. He held two positions namely, Regional Head, Island Bank and Ikeja Bank with responsibilities to also drive business growth.

In 2011, he joined Ecobank Nigeria Limited as an Executive Director.

His responsibilities were to oversee the Bank’s Domestic Banking operations In the Lagos and West Region. He left Ecobank in August 2015 to join ProvidusBank.

As Executive Director, ProvidusBank, he superintends the Business Banking, Banking services and Digital Banking departments.

DEOYE OJUROYE, CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

He has a combined 16 years financial services experience both in the United Kingdom and Nigeria, with expertise in the areas of retail, commercial and investment banking, insurance, private equity, assets & sales finance and equities brokerage.

He is the Chief Financial Officer of the Bank. He joined ProvidusBank from PricewaterhouseCoopers, having worked for 8 years in each of the London and Lagos offices of the firm. At PWC, he had responsibility for managing the audit engagements of multinational banking and Insurance Clients, covering all aspects of the clients’ financial reporting process, including assessments of the effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting.

OLUFUNKE JONES, GROUP HEAD, BUSINESS BANKING

Pretty Olufunke has over 16 years progressive banking career across various functions including marketing, relationship management and customer care.

She is Group Head, Business Banking. Prior to joining Providus Bank, Olufunke was at Ecobank Nigeria Limited where she was Country Head, Power & Energy desk for Domestic Bank Group. She also had the responsibility of the country Head, other Real Sector Business for Domestic Bank.

Her stint on these roles was remarkable because of her dynamism for project implementation. Olufunke 15 a very passionate and self-driven person with strong interest in motivating and mentoring young people.

GIDEON JARIKRE, GROUP HEAD, INTERNATIONAL OPERATIONS

He is the Head of International Operations Division of the Bank. He joined ProvidusBank In 2015 having worked in Institutional Investors Limited and Zenith Bank Plc. While in Zenith, he was in charge of the International Operations of the bank for several years. He also worked as the Chief Compliance Officer of the Bank as well as supervising the Foreign Subsidiaries of the Zenith Bank Group.

Gideon has over 24 years of banking experience and has attended a number of training programs locally and internationally including the Executive Management Program at the London Business School, United Kingdom. He is a senior member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) and the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered).

RITA AMENE, GROUP HEAD PERSONAL & PRIVATE BANKING

This lovely lady has over 20 years of banking experience, having worked in Equity Bank Nigeria Limited and Zenith Bank, where she gained a wealth of experience in Commercial Banking, Branch Management Supervision, Business Development and Financial Advisory Services.

She also achieved high monthly profit levels year on year and succeeded in growing the liability base and risk assets while she was the Group Zonal Head at Zenith Bank. Her track record of winning is driven by creativity, excellent customer service delivery and key relationship management. She has interests in leadership training and mentoring, charitable pursuits, reading and international relations.

CHUKWUMA NWACHUKWU, GROUP HEAD, TREASURY

Chukwuma Nwachukwu has a Bachelor of Agric Technology degree in Agricultural Economics from Federal University of Technology, Owerri, graduating with a First Class. He also holds a Master of Science in Agricultural Economics from the same university.

He has over two decades of banking experience, which started with the position of a Forex Dealer in 1997. He has held various roles in Treasury and branch management working at various financial Institutions in Nigeria. Chukwuma is the Group Head, Treasury and joined Providus Bank from United Mortgage Limited where he was Head, Treasury Managing the Bank’s funds portfolio. His interest is in reading, soccer and music appreciation.

ABOSEDE YINKA-OGUNDIMU, GROUP HEAD, PUBLIC SECTOR

Abosede Yinka-Ogundimu is the Group Head, Public Sector of Providus Bank. She has over 20 years banking experience in core banking operations having worked in Fidelity Bank and former Spring Bank, which later transformed into Heritage Bank Plc where she was the Group Head, Public Sector (Lagos and South West Region).

She is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Scotland (UK)-MCIBS, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), Associate of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (Nigerian Institute of Management) and Student Member of the Institute of Risk Management (UK).

Abosede is a goal-getter, unbiased leader and change agent who has led teams that championed many initiatives; achieving and surpassing set targets.
