The beautiful wife of the former Senate Leader and the Senator who represented Oyo Central in the country’s Upper Chamber, Chief Teslim Kolawole Folarin, Barr. Angela Folarin has made a shocking revelation about her marriage.
Angela, who took to her facebook page and penned down a touching tribute in memory of her late mother-in-law Alhaja Sidikatu Abebi Folarin who died sometimes last year January, revealed so many interesting things about her family, love life and marriage. How ‘Oloye’, as her husband is called, went ahead to marry her despite being a single mother. She didn’t only talk very well of the late Matriarch of the Folarin clan of Ibadan but also revealed the love, their political conspiracies, great time and affections she shared with her late mother-in-law. Despite the fact that Mama never saw her face; Mama had Glaucoma.
“One day, I’m going to write a book about Sidikatu Abebi. She had glaucoma and never saw me. ‘The first day that her son took me to her, she felt my hands. I was apprehensive. She told me one thing.. that her son had found a place in Delta. And that she felt at peace with me, a single mother.’
She fought me sending Obonya to Eton. She wanted him by her side all the time.
Then she sent food, chin chin, indomie, sweets, she wanted him to be happy, and for them to know that he was her grandson, who them be? As we had insisted that he go.
Our political conspiracies.. mama.. I would tell you that I want to move one way, and your son is on another path, you would tell me, leave matter! I know how to handle it. Yet, you had never seen my face! We probably spent about 15 years together. YOU NEVER SAW MY FACE. I remember some girls coming to the house, trying to come and ‘marry’ your son, as I am not an Ibadan woman. You told them that this girl is from Niger Delta. My hand no dey o! They are militants from that side. In your later years, we loved your son, Tesi. You held whoever he loved to the highest esteem. Our political struggles wore you out, but you stood strong for morale.
In your final days, 101 years old, all I could do, was to take drip with you, and I told our doctor, just give me a drip to make her feel together with me. We held each other all along.. till the end. Why am I doing this?
Because you never saw my face. You only knew my heart. And you trusted this silly girl. Iya mi. Two years have gone, but I learned this kind of love as a mother. Will you ever see Angela’s face? That’s why I’ve been crying all day,” she submitted.
No wonder Angela took it upon herself and made sure Mama was given a befitting burial. She was the head of the planning committee and the party was superb. All the creme de la cream of the society were at the party, held on Saturday 21st January 2017, at the arcade ground of the prestigious Recreation Club, Ibadan. Over 5000 guests graced the occasion. The Alaafin of Oyo Oba Lamidi Adeyemi 111, the Oluwo of Iwo land Oba Abdul-Rasheed Akanbi, Gov. Abiola Ajimobi, former governors, about 10 ex-senators, top politicians from Oyo State and beyond were all present. These powerful tributes by Angela, however, has not but added greatly to what people had already known about the Folarins. It is a known fact that the Aare Ago Olubadan of Ibadan land, Teslim Folarin is a family man the core. He has never joked with his family. In fact, Angela and Teslim are one of the most celebrated couples in Ibadan; they are always referred to as Romeo and Juliet. Wherever you see Oloye, especially at social functions, Angela will be somewhere close.
