OGUN Monarch, Oba ADEKEYE Set To Celebrate @ 60

In the next few weeks, a sleepy town in Yewa North in Ogun State called Joga Orile will witness the gathering of eminent Nigerians who will be gathering in the town for the 60th birthday celebration of the king of Jogaland, Alayeluwa, Oba Adeyemi Alani Olanrewaju Adekeye, the Abepa of Jogaland. Its a 2-in-1 event as it will also mark his 15th year on the throne. The week long celebration will start on Wednesday 17th January, 2018 with traditional rites.

 

Then on Thursday 18th January, 2018 which is his actual birthday, there will be a church service at St. Peters Anglican Church whilst reception will follow at his Olumilade Country Home. Music will be by King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (K1). The next day, Friday 19th, 2018, there will be Jumat Service at The Central Mosque, Joga Orile followed by a reception at his country home. On Saturday 20th January there will installation of Chiefs.

His Royal Highness Oba Adeyemi Olanrewaju Adekeye, Lagori III, Abepa of Joga-Orile, Yewaland was born on the 18th January, 1958. He hails from Adelupo Ruling House in Joga-Orile.

His father, late Prince S.O. Adekeye a very hardworking man and a great disciplinarian worked with the Local Government Service Commission of Ogun State where he served with many of the Local Governments. He rose to the rank of a Senior Technical Officer’ before retiring from Government service. Kabiye’s mother Chief Mrs. Kikelomo Adekeye the “Iya Abiye of Ayetoro” a nurse by profession and proprietor of Kikelomo Maternity Home Ayetoro hails from the great Olurin family of Modeolu quarters Ilaro in Yewa. No wonder Oba Adeyemi Adekeye Lagori III, Abepa of Joga-Orile took so much to his parents both in physique and in manners that we will not be over-emphasizing the obvious if we say “like father like son.”

The young Prince Adeyemi Olanrewaju Adekeye started his primary school education at St. Peters Anglican School Joga-Orile in 1963, after which he gained admission to the Famous Comprehensive High School Ayetoro for his secondary education.

Prince Adeyemi worked briefly in Lagos as a banker before he left for the United States of America in 1980 to further his education, While in the U.S. he attended Los Angelis City College where he read Business Administration. He worked as a private man at Los Angelis City before starting a finance House Business in Lagos in 1988.

On the 31st August 1993, Prince Adeyemi Adekeye (now our revered Kabiyesi) was conferred with the Chieftaincy title of Basorun of Joga-Orile by the late Oba, His Royal Highness Oba A.S. Adesina as a mark of appreciation for his contribution towards the development of the ancient town.

In 1997 Prince Adeyemi Olanrewaju Adekeye moved back to the United States of America where he worked until his appointment as the new Abepa of Joga-Orile.

On 23rd May 2002. Prince Adeyemi Olanrewaju Adekeye was made a honorary citizen of the City of Houston, Texas in recognition of his outstanding success and in appreciation of his valuable contribution to the City, The same day, he was made a goodwill Ambassador of the city of Houston Texas by Mayor Lee P. Brown, Mayor of the city of Houston.

He equally got a letter of commendation from the Governor of the State of Texas Rick Perry in May, 2002.
