- What He Told City People
When you think of a comedian who has his big smile and his bears as a logo and part of his brand, I think the name that should strike anyone’s mind is Woli Arole. This young man who started his escapade and journey to the hall of fame through the good use of social media platform has emerged as one of the most sought after comedian in Nigeria and across the globe with close to a million followers.
Oluwatoyin Bayegun popularly known as Woli Arole is a native of Ikare-Akoko in Ondo State Nigeria. The comedian cum actor has had several International and national nominations and awards due to his creativity and dexterity in Comedy. He is one of those few that has changed the face of comedy to what it is today. He recently bagged an award as the comic act of the year in the 2018 City People’s Music Award held at the Balmoral Event Centre, Oregun Ikeja on the 28th day of October 2018.
In an interview with the trio, City Peoples Publisher SEYE KEHINDE, Assistant Editor SUNDAY ADIGUN and Society Reporter TITILOPE OGUNLEYE he talked about his private life and reasons why he thinks he needs a wife now among and other private matters. Enjoy the conversation.
There is this part about Woli Arole that is not open to your fans and that is about your relationship. We don’t know if you are married, divorced or single?
The issue is that I think I need a wife now at this point of my life. I am very alone, nothing complicated. I have never been married or divorced before. Complexion not sure but a good woman but really I think I am getting to that point where I think I really need a wife because it is good when you settle down with someone now because the brand is growing and Its getting bigger and the bigger it gets it might became difficult to see or know the right person. I think I might need to go on some excursion to places like Ekiti, Ondo, London, America to just see what is happening there and also seek the face of God.
You and Asiri are very close, how did you meet?
That is my twin brother o. We went to the same university. He was staying a room beside my room funny enough I had not even started comedy and we became very close and he had this gift too. He is very hilarious and intelligent, so we just clicked from the university days. We stayed in Ibadan together and we visit each other in our homes and that was how we bounded and built the friendship.
Still on the wife matter, how have you handled your female fans?
Essentially.
How come you have not been able to pick from them?
It is just because I dint put my eye on that. At first I was like maybe I did not need it but I realized that my ministry is not like Apostle Paul, it was apostle Paul that did not get married. I am not Paul and there was no place I was called Paul in my life. Then one thing about the female fans people don’t know is that they are supposed to be cherished. I realized as an entertainer that you can’t marry everybody. A lot of entertainers make mistake, they fall in love with their helper. There some people that come your journey to help and connect you. I have met a pretty girl that has helped me anchor their parent’s events. Don’t think every lady that tells you tell like you want to sleep with you. I don’t put emotions before work because I need to know why you are coming to meet me so that I don’t cloud your sense of judgment and you think Arole is like every entertainer that sleeps around.
