Last week, the remains of Mama Grace Nwapali Dick was laid to rest in Lagos. She died at the age of 91. The burial ceremony began on Wednesday 28th of April 2021 with a Service of Songs at her residence. On Thursday 29nd of April 2021, there was a funeral service at the Vaults And Garden Cemetery in Ikoyi at 10.00 am and Burial Service followed at the Ikoyi Cemetery.
The remains of Mama left mortuary for Vaults and Garden and was greeted with a mourning crowd consisting of her members of her community, family and friends, who came en masse to pay their last respect.
The burial ceremony was conducted by the pastor of popular Trinity House, Ituah Ighodalo who shared emotional reflections of how late mama Grace Nwapali popular known as Sisi Grace lived a fulfilled life, and a life worth emulating.
Pastor Ituah admonished mama’s children to remain strong and united just as mama would have loved and not give room for grudges.
Her final ceremonial progression through the streets of Ikoyi raised treasurable memories of her life among family, friends and even close neighbors. The recollections bespeak the misery of a watching world that fell in love with the beautiful daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. Mr Patrick and her siblings rued the final departure of their mother, struggling in their grief to deal with the humbling reality that their mother had finally set out alone into eternity.
Sisi Grace’s cortege was joined along the way by the most important people in her life. They walked behind her remains, and then, so did representatives from each of the families and communities The deceased would definitely turn in her grave for the honor and unrivaled show of love that her beloved sons and daughters gave her.
Those who knew mama in her life-time will never forget her easily. Many people who spoke about her averred that many others who never met her, but felt they knew her, will remember her.
Speaking about Mama, Mr. Patrick Oduone who is a printing specialist @ said that Sisi Grace is a superwoman.
He added that she left a legacy that the family would always cherish. He said mama is extremely peaceful, kind, and generous to a fault
“Her enterprise and never-give-up spirit will never be forgotten. Growing up, I watched her start up a business from nothing to something big.
“She taught me that hard work with prayers is an important ingredient for success. I believe. I got the best of her being the last child and due to the fact that we spent a lot of time together.
“Even in her last moment, her words of advice were priceless and will never be forgotten”, he said.
The deceased is survived by Omasan Dudu, Francis Oputa-Oji. Francisca Oputa-Oji Thompson Keke Oduone, Mercy Ewule Bashorun Oduone, Patrick Oduone, Olayinka Oduone.
