by Sunday Adigun

On Saturday 16th January, 2021, the popular Aladesuru family lost one of their illustrious sons, Prince Bolaji Oluwaseyi Aladesuru, who died after a brief illness at age of 59.

It was regarded as a great loss for the family of Aladesuru, not only because of his age or the circumstances that surrounded his death, but for a man who was regarded as a man of integrity, a loving husband, a great father to his children and a great family man to the core. The whole area where his residence is located in Lagos stood still on this day. Till now, the whole Estate has been in mourning and silence. What about the turnout of dignitaries who came to console the family? It has been massive since the news broke. He was a man who many described as a man of honor till his last day on earth.

According to Christian doctrine, the funeral rite for Prince Bolaji Oluwaseyi Aladesuru (JP) started with Service of song/wake keep at his residence on Thursday 28th Jan, 2021 it had many dignitaries in attendance, like, Queen Ayo Balogun who is the best friend to the widow of the deceased, Ola Aladesuru. There were others like Hon. Akinterinwa, a Commissioner in Ondo State and his wife, Dr Seye Kehinde of City People Magazine and many others.

The Christian wake keep was coordinated by Ministers from his Family Church, Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries, situated at Block 63 & 67 Jakande Estate, Mile 2 Amuwo Odofin, Lagos, Nigeria. And they made sure that it was indeed a night to remember of an icon, as many good things were said of the deceased by the Pastor and few people that were given opportunity to share few tributes about him. The kind of man he was, how he had touched and impacted many people’s live being when he was alive and many of his good deeds came to play on this day. Many family members and well-wishers literally shed tears on hearing some of these testimonies. It simply shows that the man lived a good life and is going to be greatly missed.

The following day, Friday 29th of January was the grand finale,  the day to give the deceased a final rest, and all roads led to Ikoyi Vault and Garden after the Lying in-state at his residence in Festac.

The beating of drums, blowing of trumpets and the parade from the undertakers announced the arrival of The Aladesuru family at Ikoyi Vault and Garden. The whole place stood still when his remains was being paraded. The turnout of dignitaries who graced the occasion to pay their last respect for late Prince Bolaji Oluwaseyi Aladesuru was very impressive. Undoubtedly, he lived a good life.

DRADAMS

The burial service was briefly conducted by Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries Pastors, inside a Mini Hall of 50 capacity situated right inside the vault and after the service, the remains of Prince Bolaji Oluwaseyi Aladesuru was laid to its final rest amidst tears.

It must be noted that Mercy Funeral in Surulere did wonders. They are one of the wave-making funeral experts in town right now. They made sure everything was in order. Trust these undertakers, they surely know how to impress people with their charismatic, energetic and high-class delivery.

At the Wake Keep, last Thursday a lot of family members, friends and church members paid tribute to the deceased. His daughter, Dayo who read the first Bible Reading described her dad as a Goodman. “My father has lived a good life. He was a selfless man. Until his death, we didn’t know people really valued him so much. I don’t think he himself knew how much he was admired. The purpose of our being on earth is to win souls, to do well. My father lived for Christ.”

Another speaker revealed how much of a selfless person he was. He lived a life worthy of emulation. He loved God. And he loved his family. One of the officiating ministers reminded the attendees the reason they are there. “When we are gathered like this, it is not for the dead, but for the living. We should all ask ourselves the question: What will people say after I am gone”.

A friend revealed how they met 9 years ago. “He shared personal matters with me. I am RCCG. But when he buys MFM books he usually sends them to me. He is was very humble. He was a workaholic. You can trust his words. He lived a good life. I was devastated when I heard the news of his death.”

Another MFM Pastor confirmed that the deceased lived a good life. “He is at peace where he is now. He has gone to be with the Lord. People often ask God questions like why? God, why did this happen? What we don’t all know is that he has reached where he is going. The question I need to ask you is, what is your own standing with God? Can God trust you? Do you have a good name? The deceased was a Gentleman. He was very truthful. He left a good name. “How many of us have a good name? Most people don’t have a name at all, not to talk of a good name because they didn’t affect or touch lives. A good name is better than precious ointment. Life is Zero. Life is nothing. Many don’t understand the mystery of life & death. What will speak for you when you die is your relationship with God. There is an assignment for each of us to fulfil”.

The sister of the deceased sister Jumoke Aladesuru gave the Vote of thanks. All she said was Thank you Lord. The service was led by the Regional Overseer.
