Prof. SOJI ADEJUMO Joins OYO Guber Race

by Reporter

Prof. David Olusoji Adejumo is a Professor of Animal Physiology He is also a former Chairman of Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board. The big news is that Prof.  has officially joined the Oyo gubernatorial race on the platform of the APC.

Prof. Adejumo made his intention known when he visiteda the party’s state Chairman, Chief Akin Oke at the secretariat of the party at Oke Ado, on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 in Ibadan, the state capital.

He said if he becomes the governor, no external farmer will bring in herds into the state without a licence approved by the law.

Adejumo, the governorship hopeful, stressed “the issue of national cattle herding transformation is good, but the framework must be transparent and publicly presented to the citizenry for appraisal and consent”.

In his official declaration message,  My Governorship ambition is borne out of a careful assessment of the state of affairs of Oyo state and the need to raise the bar of governance riding above the momentum achieved by current and past leaders.

Governance in Nigeria is largely seen as an overarching authority with powers to bully, crush and dictate with scant regard for integrity, corporate survival of the nation and individual security and prosperity of the citizens.

Nigeria, as structured today, is regarded as the fastest retrogressing state in the world and is at a perilous state of underdevelopment in all sectors

Democratic Governance is all about improving the standards of living of the populace and bestowing lasting legacies of social, economic and infrastructural development through democratic policies and institutions managed by an able and responsible leadership. The Nigerian constitution guarantees right to life. How about right to food? Food is integral to life. My academic background is all about food and life.

My decision to seek political service is toboldly tackle the myth of Nigeria as a doomed nation and by extension Oyo State as a dependent appendage incapable of its own independent economic existence. Contrary to this notion, I intend to make Oyo State an economicallyindependent state within an integrated southwest region that will emerge in a restructured statewith powers shared equitably and proportionallybased on naturally and artificially vested resources.

Oyo State requires a governor who can deliver and achieve this goal with clarity of mind and purpose and without any physical, psychological or moral weaknesses. I intend to be that Governor.  Oyo State must realise its own definitive aspirations and I intend to do be the driver that will drive the state to that destination.

Nigeria is a unique political paradox and the constituent states need to draw up their survival strategies. I promise to present Oyo State with a credible leadership if given the opportunity to serve and lead the service team with a clear road map to success.

About twenty years ago, Oyo State was in astate of underdevelopment in all sectors but the past twelve years have witnessed Progressivevisionary leadership with a deep commitment to infrastructural and positive legacies in Oyo State. The achievements recorded in infrastructural and social development need to be deepened and sustained but in a more citizen friendly and socially comfortable framework.
