Wow! It’s been a pretty long time. Have you guys missed me, your favourite girl, Rosie? Have you missed all of those fun moments we had together on this page? Trust me, guys, I’ve missed you all like crazy. I missed those times when we laughed together on this page and cried together. I missed those moments when we shared some of my deepest secrets and enjoyed my most sensational romance together.
A lot has happened to your girl, oh. After all these years, you should expect a lot of water must’ve passed under the bridge. For starters, I now have a baby girl who’s all grown up. She’s sixteen, but she looks way older than her age and acts and speaks like she’s way older as well. Her name is Jessica and I’ll introduce you to her much later. But not today. And I can read your mind right now, I know you all are dying to know who the father is, abi? Easy. Let’s take it one step at a time. You will get to know about him, but all in good time, okay?
So, I’m back and it feels really great to be here again. When Wale Lawal put a call through to me to inform me that City People wanted me to bring back Rosie’s Diary, I was shocked. I was not expecting such a request after such a long time. But he made me understand there’s been a huge demand for me to return by fans of my page who have missed me like crazy. “People, especially women, have learnt a great deal from your story, Rosie, they all saw the realities of the life of a woman through your eyes,” he’d told me. I told him to let me think about it for a day or two to see if it’s something I could accommodate along with my work. Yes, I now work with a PR and Advertising firm here in Lagos. I told you a lot has happened, right? Don’t worry, there’s a whole lot we need to catch up on.
I remember the first time the Editor, Wale, came knocking on my door. I’d only just met him through a mutual friend and so was surprised when he called me up to say he needed to see me, that there was something he wanted to talk about. At first, I hesitated, wondering what he had in mind, and then told him it was okay. I gave him my address and told him to come over the next day. But I was extremely curious. What could Wale want to talk to me about? Then, I remembered how he kept staring endlessly at me the first time we met. It was obvious he liked me. Is he coming to ask me out? Is he hoping we can be lovers? Is he coming to seek a favour from me? All manner of thoughts began to run through my mind but I was sure he was going to ask me out. And I was waiting to shock him. To start with, I couldn’t date a journalist, they can’t pay my bills. And besides, when I really desire to catch my fun with a man, I like my man dark and huge, and Wale is neither dark nor huge. So, on all fronts, he had fallen terribly short of standards. You can, therefore, imagine my shock when he told me all he wanted was for me to tell my story to their female audience. He had heard a bit of my story during my conversation with my friend and he felt it would make an interesting piece if we put in black and white and publish for people to read and learn from. I felt he made some sense and we went through the terms of engagement, agreed on terms and that was how started. It was an amazing journey. Week in, week out, I took readers on an incredible journey that lasted for years. Fast forward to more than a decade after, same Wale is here again and we are about to start the journey from where we left off.
So, what has been happening to me? How have I been living life all this while? Who is the father my lovely daughter, Jessica? Who are the men in my life right now? What are the challenges I am facing in life at the moment? Come with me on this brand new journey, as from next week, we shall together go on an incredible tour of intrigues, suspense, drama, my high moments, my low moments, my joy, my pain. Trust me, it will be an absolutely exciting journey. Till next week, take good care of yourself, guys, and it’s so good to be back again!!
