“Friends & Family,

Permit me to put COVID-19 into perspective and probably bring the message closer home.

I tested Positive for COVID-19 on the 23rd of March 2020. I was isolated at the Infectious diseases Hospital Yaba.

The Lagos State Govt has set a standard that pleasantly surprised us (Clean wards, running water, AC’s & fans, 24hrs electricity, Ventilators, very decent feeding but best of all, an absolutely awesome team of Doctors, nurses and support staff – true heroes). We were inspired to create the video that went viral (appreciating the health workers, setting up an appreciation fund and also celebrating recovered patients). On the 2nd of April 2020, I was part of the 11 patients the Lagos State Government discharged and declared COVID-19 Free after testing Negative twice (thrice as at today)

COVID-19 is real and closer than you imagine. Stay home, Stay safe, Follow the protocols. Please don’t panic, the disease can be defeated and will be defeated 90%+ most of the time.

We do expect the cases to increase and that infrastructure will be strained, but it is heartwarming to see the consolidated efforts by Government and the Private sector. Lagos has a working blueprint and hopefully, this can be replicated.

There is an uncanny power in a community of positive-minded and bonded people. My ward had a demographic of teenagers to sexagenarians; students, entrepreneurs, politicians, foreigners and professionals. We became a mini – family and our recovery rate was phenomenal (90% recovered as of today)

Hope this helps.
