100 Prominent Old Students Of ELEYELE High School

One of the prominent schools in Ibadan, Eleyele High School, located along Jericho in Ibadan, is turning 40 this weekend and many of the old students are leaving no stones unturned as they will be celebrating their Alma Mata in grand style. The School which has produced many prominent Nigerians who play big in many professions like medicine, law, banking, oil and gas, real estate, etc. will have many of the old students in attendance to celebrate and unwind.

In a chat with Mr Oladimeji Adepegba, the Ex-President of the Prestigious Secondary School, he revealed that the high school has produced many top Nigerians who are all doing well in their chosen careers. Engineer Hakeem Olasunkanmi Suara, a top NNPC official is one of the many old students of the school. Air Commodore  Gabriel Adebayo, Pastor Kunle Ekerin (UK),  Pastor Adewunmi Muhammed, Snr Adenike Oladipupo (UK base) Mr Rahman Olapade, are all old students making the school proud across the world.

So many professionals like, Barristers Olali, Barr Adeniran Adeyinka, Dr, Wasiu Olaniyi, Elder Segun Oladipupo are among the many prominent Nigerians that have gone through this citadel of learning.

Also included in the list of those who have written their names in gold are Abioye Oluwatoyin Adisa, Mr Kolawole Shittu, Pastors Adewunmi Mohammed, Dayo and Bunmi Ayoola, Mrs Bolanle Shoyombo, Mrs Baliqis Adebajo, Balarabe Maidabino and the current Cheif Imam of Sabo Ibadan, Sheik Abubakari. They can all proudly say that they passed through Eleyele High School, Ibadan.

How easy was it to achieve all they have done in a short while? The ex-President revealed that all accolades should be given to his predecessor. “To be candid, Snr Hakeem Suara, the pioneer president of the association sets a standard that we, his successors built on. I can say it categorically that with the little time we gathered, we have given back to our Alma Mata what other schools founded by the late Chief Bola Ige will try to emulate. Let me also say that this 40th anniversary is made possible by our die hearted philanthropist, a woman of substance that is ever ready to give back to the school that made her, Snr Adenike Oladipupo. She mobilized others to give back to the school. God in His infinite mercy will reward her,” he said.

Speaking on being the president of the old students’ association, he revealed that it is not easy. “You have to be a dust bin that receives all dirt. It is a hot seat where you cannot please everyone. It’s only God that can judge you. What has the association being able to do differently? We were able to refurbish the school hall, bought lawnmowers, donated a state of the heart ICT Centre with brand new computer sets, payment of both WAEC and NECO exam fees for indigent students, payment of tuition fee for old students in higher institutions, drilled borehole, distribution of uniform to all students, palliative was also given to needy members during the COVID-19 pandemic, empowerment of members, sports equipment, equipping library with current textbooks and free customized notebooks to all students.
