In its usual mode of operation, the center for Grassroot and Environmental concerns (CGEC) recently, marked the occasion of the International women’s day. The event which took place at the Bola Tinubu market Iyana Ipaja, Alimosho local government was used as an avenue to address salient issues concerning and peculiar to the female gender.
This year’s international women’s day celebration was tagged ‘’ Behold for Change’’ and the process began two weeks ago with a match past solely engaged upon by women at Alausa , Ikeja.
Speaking at the event, the executive director for Center for Grassroot and environmental Concerns Miss Kemi Oluyide said many women have suffered in silence and that there is a need for the rights of women to be upheld whilst also their peculiar problems and issues be addressed. Furthermore, she clarified that her NGO also treats cases of child abuse and molestation in children irrespective of the gender.
Also addressing attendees at the event , a psychologist miss Chizoba speaks and addressed the issues of domestic violence in women. She gave hints on how domestic violence against women can be averted.
A renowned nutritionist Mrs Taiwo speaks on how varieties of fruits can be used as natural means of detoxifying body ailments and systems. She posited that natural fruits consumption are heathier for the body rather than processed food.
However, gifts and food items were distributed to children in the orphanage home.
