Popular Sports bet company in Nigeria, 1X Bet has continued to be commended over its latest effort of developing grassroots football 1XBet Cup tournament.
1XBEt Cup is a competition that provides the right platform for 40 community-based football clubs, which were carefully selected across 20 local governments of the state, to take part in the tournament to be held from 3rd October, 2023 to November 10th, 2023.
The unveiling ceremony of the community-based tournament trophy and draws was held on Monday 25th of September, 2023, at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Ikeja GRA, Lagos.
Organised by 1XBET Company and coordinated by ex-football international and Lagos FA Chairman, Waidi Akanni the ceremony caught the attention of ex-internationals Daniel Amokachi, SA to the President on Sports; and Augustine Eguavoen, the Technical Director of the Nigerian Football Federation. They both sat on the high table as ambassadors of the tournament while Chairman of 1XBET, Dr Femi Babalola and one of his top staff, NNL new chairman, George Aluo, ex-international and coach, Fanny Amun and the coordinator himself, Waidi Akanni were also on seat as dignitaries to oversee the event.
Before the launch of the tournament and unveiling of its golden trophy, each of them spoke extensively about the prospect of the tournament which is to groom and promote football talents at the grassroots.
Eguavoen, a former Eagles captain and coach, during his remarks commended 1XBET the organisers of the football cup competition. He said tournaments like the 1XBET “is an opportunity for players to show their God-given talents and possibly get the traction that will give wings to their careers as footballers.”
He urged other corporate firms to emulate 1XBET in helping to grow Nigerian sports.
Also commending the organisers, Amokachi stressed that because football united people, “we can use it to unite Nigerians to be great again.”
Chairman of 1XBET, Dr Femi Babalola, in his address described the tournament as one of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibilities. Meanwhile, he pledged to make it a national event in subsequent editions.
According to Waidi Akanni, the winning team is to receive a gold-plated trophy and N1million prize money. The runners up and third place winners would go home with a consolation prize of 300 thousand naira and 200 thousand naira respectively. He added that there are also prizes for individual recognition for teams and players courtesy 1XBET.
The event was attended by several ex-internationals like Henry Nwosu, Friday Ekpo, Wasiu Ipaye, Monday Kanu, Friday Elahor, Victor Agali, Sports journalists from reputable media and football enthusiasts in the state. Representatives of the 40 teams were also present to witness the unveiling of the trophy and draws to know their groups where to play during the 6-weeks long tournament.
