The ever bubbling Lagos social circle was thrown into a mournful mood a few days back as 2 popular Lagos society women, Alhaja Latifat Kayode and Alhaja Latifat Ejide Baruwa died mysteriously, 2 days apart.
The sudden death of these Lagos celebrity women has been on the lips of many of their friends for days because of the nature of their death.
While many kept talking about their death, some even wondered why the 2 Lagos Ladies who were well loved on Lagos social scene suddenly died, despite the fact that they did not show any sign of sickness. Yes, they both bear the same names, but different surnames.
How did these celebrities die? Were they sick? What will their friends miss about them? Well, City People gathered that Mrs Lati Kayode, who is one of the close friends of Yeye Bewaji Ayo Julius, didn’t show any sign of sickness. She was also said to have been hale.and hearty. She was also sighted at a popular Lagos society woman’s grandchild naming, looking pretty in yellow-and-black headgear. Though she was said to have BP issues but she was regularly taking her drugs as at when needed, revealed her friends.
What then went wrong with Alhaja Lati Kayode a.k.a Iya Ibeji? Well, City People’s investigation reveals that she complained of being tired. She even gave some of her friends calls complaining about how tired she felt.
According to her friend, Yeye Bewaji Ayo Julius on her Facebook page, the society woman who wrote on her Facebook page said: “You called me and said you were tired and that you may switch off your phone to rest. You didn’t tell me you were going to rest for life. I will miss you my Asabi Iya Ibeji”.
Our source, who doesn’t want her name mentioned revealed that she was in her house when she complained of slight headache and before she could be taken to Mushin Isolo General Hospital, she gave up the ghost at 56.
While many were still mourning the death of Alhaja Lati Asabi Kayode, the death of another Lati was announced. It was the death of one of Lagos most loved society women, Alhaja Lateefat Mojisola Baruwa.
The ever bubbling Alhaja was from the popular Longe family of Ikorodu, and a top drink distributor in Apogbon.
Mama Baruwa, who will be missed for her kind and giving a gesture, died at the age of 66. She was a major distributor in Grand Oak Nigeria and International Distilleries Limited.
How did she die you may ask? Alhaja Lati’s death shocked many of her friends to their marrow. This was because she went for a social function 3-days before her death. She was hale and hearty before she breathed her last. The entire Longe family of Ikorodu has since been thrown into mournful mood not just because they lost her in her 60s, but because nobody went to Alhaja Latis house with tears and left the same way.
Alhaja Lati’s memories linger on as many have lots of good things to say about her.

Mayowa Baruwa is into business and the last born, Muhammed Toah Baruwa, works with Lagos State Government.
