THE OGUNDOYINS & MAJEKODUNMIS WEDDING CEREMONY
Come Saturday 27 November 2021, top celebrities from all walks of life from across Southwest, Nigeria and beyond will converge in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State. It’s going to be a glamorous wedding ceremony between the Oyo Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin and the love of his life, Olamidun Majekodunmi. This is when Ogundoyin and Majekodunmi families will officially become in-laws. The Church wedding holds at All Souls’ Anglican Church, Bodija, Ibadan, while reception and entertainment of quests follow at the Polo Club Grounds, Onireke-Eleyele Road, Ibadan. The color theme for the party are turquoise on turquoise for ladies and turquoise on cream for men. All arrangements have been concluded to make the party a glamorous one. In fact, it would be an understatement to say that the party is going to be a mega one. As much as the families would have loved to keep it a low key affair, their status and popularity in the society won’t just allow that (that probably explains why the engagement was quietly held in Abeokuta, the home town of the Majekodunmis, some months ago). The two families involved are prominent and successful families. They are both charming, lovable families and excellent hosts too. Tina Ogundoyin, the Iyaloja-general of Ibarapaland, is the wife of late Eruwa-born billionaire and philanthropist, Chief Adeseun Ogundoyin. The ever-gorgeous Tina has been carrying on with the legacy left behind by her late business mogul husband. Popularly called ‘Queen of Shaba’ in the social circle as result of her astonishing beauty, Tina Ogundoyin is a businesswoman. She plays big in the Oil & Gas and retail business. Her connections cut across business, social and political circles. She is also a philanthropist. Her son, the Speaker has always been a successful businessman too. He was a top player in Nigeria’s entertainment industry before venturing into politics and his eventual emergence as Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He is an Agronomist and alumnus of Babcock University. The party would also serve as a kind of payback time for Tina Ogundoyin who has always been supportive of her friends during private or social functions. She has been described by many as a kind and generous woman. These and any more are the main reasons top society women from Ibadan, Lagos and Abuja and their male counterparts from these zones are going to storm the party in a big way. Political bigwigs from across the aforementioned zones are also expected to grace the occasion as well.
Meanwhile, both Dr. Femi Majekodunmi and Hon. Justice Tokunbo Majekodunmi are quite popular and influecial too. Chief (Dr) Femi Majekodunmi is a renowned medical practitioner cum businessman and politician. The Baagbile of Egbaland is a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State. While the wife, Hon. Justice Olatokunbo Majekodun is a High Court Judge. They are well loved celebrity couple.
ALHAJI ABDULAZEEZ ADISA ALARAPE’S BURIAL
The following day after Tina Ogundoyin’s party, Sunday 28 November 2021, comes the grand burial ceremony of late Alhaji AbdulAzeez Adisa Alarape. He is the father of a popular Ibadan society woman, Mrs. Folorunsho Fagbemi. She is a big-time Aso-Oke dealer in Ibadan. Her Segis Place is a one-stop-shop for top celebrities for all kinds of Aso-Oke in Ibadan. She is well connected too. So, it’s expected that top society men and women in Ibadan and beyond will also be storming her party too. It’s going to hold at the International Conference Centre (ICC), UI, Ibadan. Mrs. Folorunsho Fagbemi and her siblings are not leaving any stone unturned to give their late father a befitting burial. The Ankara Aso-Ebi is out, it’s on high demand by Ibadan celebrities. It’s going to be, indeed, the celebration of a life well spent of Baba, who died at the ripe age of 109. He died peacefully on Tuesday 19 October 2021 and was buried the next day according to Islamic rites. In his lifetime, Alhaji AbdulAzeez Adisa Alarape, was a celebrity butcher and contractor, majorly in cows. He supplied UCH, Leventis, UTC, UI and the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile-Ife with cow meat. He was a successful businessman, an Ibadan man to the core. He is from the popular Opoyeosa compound and the prominent Jare Alade family in Ibadan. So successful and prominent was Alhaji AbdulAzeez Adisa Alarape that he had a close, Alarape, named after him at his residence, at Ajibade area of Ibadan. Mrs. Folorunsho Fagbemi, in a chat with City People, described her late Dad as a kind and reserved man. “My father was so nice. In fact, am missing him already,” Mrs. Fagbemi said.
“Of course, one of the things I will miss the most about him is, his kind gestures toward not only his biological children but everyone who he came across in his time.”. He was reserved and kind. He would rather keep quiet than go confrontational when offended. He was highly disciplined too. Though not lettered, but he lived a healthy and smooth lifestyle. I ate salad from my dad for the first time in my life. The baked beans and all. We always eat like those from the Northern part of Nigeria. Whenever he wants to break his fast, we all sit on the mat with him. He loved seeing people around himself. I wasn’t born in Ibadan, I was born in Oke-Igbo Ifetedo. So, the first Ileya day I spent with him was a different experience entirely. He was just giving me everything to taste. He served fiesta till his last moment. He was also an upright man. He leaves home for work by 7am and come back by 12 noon. His contemporaries were the likes of Emele, Otoyesi, Asinde and Co. They are all of blessed memory, my father was the last of his circle.”
