2018 City People Movie Awards: A Night To Remember For Many Movie Stars

The Balmoral event centre came alive again on Sunday, September 16, 2018, as Nigeria’s first soft sell magazine, City People hosted many celebrities as movie actors, producers, and directors from Nollywood, Gollywood and Kaniwood industries stormed the event centre in grand style for this year’s edition of its annual movie awards.

Starting from the oldies, veterans like Price Jide Kosoko and his longtime friend, partner, and associate, Otunba Adebayo Salami whose family names were honoured by City People Magazine for their roles in the development of movies in Nigeria came with large members of their families respectively for the new feathers to their crown.

Beautiful actress Jumoke Odetola who won the coveted actress of the year in the Yoruba category came with her professional family, the Prodigy to celebrate the much-deserved accolade.

Other female veterans present includes Eucharia Anunobi, Ngozi Nwosu, Ayo Adesanya, Yetunde Wunmi, Iya Ereko, Fali Werepe, Fausat Balogun amongst several others.

The men were not left out of the fun, Star actor, Segun Arinze, Charles Inojie, Olumide Oworu, Niyi Johnson, Kunle Afod, Yoruba comic actor who won the comic actor of the year in the Yoruba category, Tayo Amokade aka Ijebu led several others in a night of fun.

The event will not be complete without making mention of some of the music stars that came to lighten up the stage. The popular legbegbe crooner, Mr. Reel gave his fans a handful, popular hip-hop act, Shugaboy didn’t disappoint his ever-waiting fans, veteran afrobeats singer, Alariwo of Africa was also sighted amongst the crowd showing love for several winners of the night.

The UK based Nigerian gospel act, Sufiya took the audience away from the auditorium to the presence of God and returned them afterward with her awesome gospel tunes to give the event a balance.

Popular Yoruba gospel act, Lanre Teriba aka Atorise took the show to another level entirely with his awesome “tungba-gospel” tunes and left everyone dancing like it was an “owambe” night.
