646The chieftains of Labour Party in Lagos have urged Lagosians to go all out to collect their Permanent Voters’ Card (PVC) as the window for collection would close in less than 5 days from now. This was made known on Wednesday, January 25th, 2023 at the Press Conference organised by the party to sensitize the public on issues revolving around the ongoing PVC Collection across the country. The Labour party is a prominent political party in Nigeria and one of those on the front burner in the coming 2023 election. The party has turned into a force to reckon with in the country thanks to the quality of candidacy being put forward for the Presidency, governorship and the legislative arm of the government. The party is doing everything possible to educate members and Nigerians in voting rightly and ensuring their votes count.
During the press conference, the chairman of the Labour Party in Lagos state, Pastor Mrs. Dayo Ekong Spoke on the need to address Nigerians and Obedient members across the country on the importance of going out to get their PVCs in preparation for the general election. She said getting their PVCs would be needful in bringing about the desired change the country clamour for right now. She also emphasized the importance of Lagos state to the outcome of the election. “We want a Nigeria where you wake up in the morning and it is so obvious that there is hope for tomorrow. We want a Nigeria where our children would feel at home and proud to be called Nigerians. We want a Nigeria where people who cannot even afford a meal and have lost hope would see a sigh of relief that This is a better Nigeria. My mission is to rescue Nigerians from this oppression, frustration, rejection and hopelessness that people are going through right now. The only way we can do this is for us to exercise our civic right which is for you to go out there on the 25 February to vote. And the only way you can vote is by using your PVCs. So, we are employing Nigerians to go out there and vote for your conscience.”
Also addressing the public was the governorship candidate of the party in Lagos state, Architect GbadeboRhodes-Vivour. The young and vibrant candidate took time to reel out the many moves the party has made in recent times toward ensuring voters get their PVCs in due time. He revealed the several meetings they have had with the electoral body INEC on issues raised by members of the public. He expressed his confidence in the resident chairman of INEC in Lagos saying the man has been forth-coming in addressing most of the issues raised. He however took time to call the attention of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police and The Inspector General of Police on the growing concern over the safety of members of the party. He gave instances where a number of them were attacked while going about pasting campaign posters. This action, he alleged, was taken by the APC thugs. Meanwhile, he pleaded with the security apparatus concerned with ensuring the safety of citizens during the election to be dutiful towards ensuring a free, fair and credible election. He, therefore, concluded his speech by assuring voters that the Labour Party would bring the change Nigerians desire. As the conference progresses chieftains of the party also learn the words in support of what the state chairman and the governorship candidate said concerning PVC collection and other issues surrounding the forth-coming elections in the state.
