by Wale Lawal

For sometime now, a new group of women who have transformed the aphrodisiac business into a money spinning venture emerged on the scene. And they are doing incredibly well. They are young, pretty, sophisticated and educated ladies who have applied their education and exposure to use the social media to their full advantage.. Gone are the days when local aphrodisiac sellers were mostly illiterates who wore make-up with loud colours and were often restricted to hawking their wares on the streets or at ‘motor parks’.

In recent times, thanks to the advent of social media, they have now ‘repackaged’. There is a booming market for these products, which is now sold by educated people, most of whom are ladies under the age of 30 but still, they smile to the bank daily. Top on their shelves is a product called, Kayanmata, among other things.

Kayanmata originated from the Northern part of Nigeria and it refers to herbs or potions that act as sex or love enhancers for couples. In Hausa language, the word, Kayanmata means women’s things. Interestingly, there is a no refund policy for these aphrodisiac products. But this does not discourage their customers in any way. They are ever rushing to these Kayamata experts who would prefer to be known as sex therapists. Indeed, they claim to offer consultation services, counseling couples, or atleast, one half of the couple which usually is the lady, and offering solutions to their marital issues, apart from selling to them different kayamata products such as sex enhancers, love potions, etc.

A large chunk of the ladies who patronise these sex therapists are celebrities and society women who are either struggling to hold down their marriage or are trying desperately to get a new lover’s attention and money. Going by City People investigation, their clients are often satisfied with their services and the sex Kayamata experts are smiling to the banks. They are making millions everyday and they do not hide the fact they are all millionaires courtesy of their flourishing business. City People takes a look at 3 of these Kayamata ladies who are very young and are doing extremely well.

DEBORAH ERIOLUWAPO AJAYI

Fondly known as Omoshola, she has garnered over 1million followers on her Instagram account. Although part of the bio on her websites reads that her craft ‘is a unique blend of day spa and sexual wellness spa stepping in to meet the challenges of today’s major skin and sexual crises,’ the young lady is known to trade in local aphrodisiac products.

A peep at her Instagram account and one can easily assume that business is booming for the 28-year-old who has now spread her tentacles beyond the shores of Nigeria to the rest of West Africa and beyond. She is seen in several pictures posing in a private jet.

In several interviews, she has divulged that she ventured into business at the tender age of 12 while she started selling aphrodisiac some years ago.

So far, she sits atop an empire of different business concerns in two cities of Abuja, Nigeria and Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Often described as a sex therapist, Omoshola owns a farm in Karu area of the Federal Capital Territory where she rears livestock. She also owns a body enhancement spa in Maitama area of Abuja, as well as a salon and body spa in Dubai known as HBG Beauty Lounge at the Dubai Investment Park. She is the Chief Executive Officer of Omoshola’s Place, she says the plight of women and fixing broken marriages was behind her decision to go into aphrodisiac business..

According to Ajayi, her dream was to become an entrepreneur with various interests but the plight of women in marriage caught her attention and she decided to do something about it.

Speaking in an interview a while back, she said she discovered how people go through a lot in life, especially the women who are constantly being abused in one way or the other in their marriages, adding that “while growing up, I realised 75 per cent of men who wanted to take advantage of me were married. I used to wonder why they were always after younger girls. I have witnessed marital violence in my home and neighbourhood, 80 per cent are caused by the men’s infidelity.”

Speaking further, the sex therapist disclosed that she was curious to find out the reason why men couldn’t hold on to their wives, pointing out that after a little research “I realised men run after younger girls because of the pleasure they derive after intimacy. I wouldn’t blame this on men fully, most women become very careless after marriage/ birth. They believe once they are married they wouldn’t need to do the things they were doing when they were very much younger,” she added.

She said her mission is to save married women from the oppression of giving birth with her product, The Royal Honey syrup, which according to her has been introduced to the public to boost a woman’s sexual confidence, adding that “every woman should do whatever it takes to hang on to their husbands.”

“The fact that you think it does, will make you act in a bolder, more confident way. It tightens the walls of the vagina, helps stimulates the vagina to help secrete more juice as a lot of women suffer from vagina dryness” she said.

AKINOLA OLUWATOMIWA BALQEES

Known in the sex industry as Miwa Signature, Akinola Oluwatomiwa Balqees, is another big player in the game.

The electrical engineering graduate of the University of Ilorin is proud to be called the Kayanmata goddess.

In an interview, Balqees noted that her passion stemmed from her parent’s separation after 13 years of marriage. Being a product of a broken home, she vowed to help mend troubled marriages with her business, which she started in 2016.

From her personal Instagram page with over half a million followers followers, it can be deduced that she is quite conservative but that does not stop the young lady from taking rides in private jets as she has some pictures to show for it.

Although she may not ostentatiously display her wealth via her post on social media, her clothes, jewellery, designer bags and wigs show that she is truly a big girl. A typical case of “if you know, you know”.

A peek into her business page on Instagram, which has garnered over 1million followers, one would easily know that business is booming for Balquees. She frequently posts orders, reviews and payment receipts, which range from N100,000 to N5m.

Recounting the uphill journey to the summit, she said: “I tell people it’s a calling. Not everyone has the balls to go into aphrodisiac business. Abroad, it is a norm, but in Nigeria, you are tagged a prostitute.

“I started selling aphrodisiac in my second year in the university and I was shy when people got to know. I was tagged the “juju seller” and I would cry myself to bed. I skipped a whole semester; I had to rebrand my life and develop a thick skin. It’s not for the weak. It was challenging; it was only reviews from customers that encouraged me. We conquered anyway. The business is wide and I’m still learning but yet the best in the game. I’ve lost friends and my private life is no longer private but thank God we are at the pinnacle of this business. Sometimes, my male customers can be very difficult to deal with. They try to take advantage during consultations; they ask if they can try the products on me first. But the storm is wearing off and we are not only known all over Nigeria but also abroad.

“Most of my products are of international standard. The ones locally produced are acquired directly from the source. I have the best suppliers. My bestseller is TFK powder; it’s an addictive sweetener that benefits both partners. Adodun soap is a native soap from Ikare in Ondo State; it is for sweetening, bonding and tightening,” she added.

“Kayanmata is a Hausa word, meaning ‘Women’s things’. They are herbs used to enhance sexual pleasure. Kayanmata is the same as aphrodisiac –  anything that is used to stimulate sexual pleasure. I’m called the Kayanmata Goddess because my products speak for themselves and people value my knowledge. I understand what I do and above all, I have a pretty face. I heard about Kayanmata from my instructor who then was teaching me how to produce skincare products. I picked interest in it because of my parents’ separation; I had the vision to mend all broken homes.”.

Apart from using her Kayanmata magic to resolve sexual issues between men and women, Miwa Signature place boss also says she does aromatherapy, which she is fast gaining popularity for.

Akinola Oluwatomiwa Balqees is a native of Ikare, Ondo State. She recalled she started her business in 2014 with skincare products. And then, she ventured into aphrodisiac majorly in 2016. She insists she is known for her major impact in women’s sexual lives. The electrical engineer from the University of Ilorin maintains she is the number one Kayanmata seller in Nigeria and indeed the world. She owns the largest Kayanmata palace in Ilorin, Nigeria and two other branches in Ilorin, Kwara State and she now has several other branches in a few other parts of the country..

OJI OGHENETEJIRI

Oji Oghenetejiri may have started her business about six years ago, but she is definitely a name to reckon with in the aphrodisiac business.

Fondly called Teji Gold by her friends and customers, the 34-year-old brags of a verified Instagram account with well over 1million followers.

Not only is the self-acclaimed sex therapist popular in her industry, she also seems to move with popular celebrities. For instance, her Instagram page shows the likes of popular Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo; former Big Brother Naija contestant, Wathoni, and Bobrisky endorsing her product.

In a recent interview, the self-acclaimed sex therapist revealed that she dumped her beauty, cosmetics and make-up business and “it was the best decision of my life,” adding that “it is quite lucrative.”

In a video she posted on her personal Instagram page, she was seen playing with money as she kept saying, “I need more of this, more of this,” while she giggled excitedly. She also flaunted her designer bags in a post..

She said, “Most women have sexual problems, a lot of women actually, but they won’t say it. Like I said, a lot of them shy away from the conversation. Men also do not help matters in telling the women they, (the women) have problems . This is because they either do not want to kill their ego, or make them feel bad. In matters of sex everyone wants to have the mindset that they are giving their partner the best, but when you tell someone they aren’t, it becomes a problem. From my experience, most women suffer low libido or sex drive. Other sexual problems in women range from vaginal weakness, looseness, vaginal infections, vaginal dryness etc. I’m using this opportunity to call on every woman out there not to downplay their problems as this, may already be killing their relationships or marriage.

“I am into Kayanmata business, this business deals with problems that concern women mostly. Most women have issues in their marriage and relationships that could be easily sorted out by this product but they don’t know. These products are purely herbal, no side effects at all, in fact in seeing them alone you know these are all natural products from herbs. But most women still shy away from their problems. Sex is very important in a relationship and marriage but most people (women ) especially would act as if they are not interested in having that conversation. Kayanmata is a Hausa word, meaning ‘Women’s things’. They are herbs used to enhance sexual pleasure. Kayanmata is the same as aphrodisiac, anything that is used to stimulate sexual pleasure,” she explained, saying women who have used the herbs have amazing story of love and fulfillment to tell.

Oji Oghenetejiri established her Teji Gold Beauty Galleria in 2018 and she has since carved a niche for herself in the business. Born July 20, 1994, Teji Gold, as she’s fondly called by her customers and Instagram followers, hails from Ethiope West Local Government area of Delta State.

She attended Oxford Primary and Secondary Schools, before proceeding to Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka Campus, also in Delta State where she studied biology.

Oji Oghenetejiri, known as TejiGold on Instagram is a Catholic Christian. She is happily married with a son.
