The Lagos was agog on Sunday 16th of September, 2018 as over 50 prominent Lagosians got turbanned at the Lagos Central Mosque in Lagos.
The event kicked off as early as 10 am at the Tafa Balewa Square Complex, Race Course, Lagos with many prominent Lagosians in attendance.
Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, the Executive Governor of Lagos who was the Chief Host couldn’t make it but he sent his goodwill message through his Deputy Governor, Mrs. Idiat Adebule.
The Asiwaju of Lagos, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu who was eminent Personality of Honour was also ably represented.
He was among prominent Lagosian who also got turban. He got the Asiwaju Adinni of Lagos, while Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola became Waziri of Lagos.
Of course, they were not the only Lagosian who were conferred with a title as the new Chief Imam of Lagos, Alhaji Sulaiman Oluwatoyin Abou-Nolla was also installed. Some other 50 prominent Lagosians also got titles too.
As early as few minutes past 10 am, all the new Oloyes as they are fondly called arrived looking Regal in a white expensive lace for women while the men walked tall in their “Alukinba” (Muslim Regalia for Men). Their white well-wrapped turban made them stand out among many other guests.
The royal father of the day was Oba Rilwan Akiolu, while the event Chairman was Alhaji Dr. Musiliu Smith, CFR who is also Chairman of Police Commission.
Baba Adinni of Lagos, His Eminence Sheik, Abdul Hafeez Abou (OFR) in his closing remarks acknowledged the contribution of Alhaji Kekere Ekun, Chief S.B. Daranijo, Alhaji T.A. Oki, late Alhaji Chief A.A. Aweleje whose position has now been taken by Chief Ganiu Williams (FCA).
Chief S.O. Babalola, Aare Rasak Akanni Okoya, Dr. Tajudeen Okoya, Sheik Farouk Onikijipa, Alhaji Ganiyu Williams, Senator Gbenga Ashafa, Mr. Demola Seriki were among many others who made the event.
The official turbanning which lasted for over 4 hours had many of the awardees treating their large guests to a warm reception at different locations.

Alhaja Mufutiat was born in Lagos to the family of Alhaja and Alhaja Saliu Mohammed Kadiku (SMK) of the famous Kadiku Saluwala family of Ita Alagba area of Lagos Island. She was educated at Anwar Islam Primary School Elegbata and Aunty Ayo Comprehensive High School for her secondary education. She is a successful business tycoon and very religious which has earned her recognition by many Islamic Organisations. She was conferred with the title of Otun Irawo Adinni of Lagos.

Alhaja Risikat was born in Lagos. Her parents are Alhaji Wahab Anjorin Okulehin of Oluwole area and Alhaja Suwebat Anjorin nee Oloko of Brazillian Quarters. She attended Anglican Girls’ High School.

She was conferred with the title of Idera Adinni of Lagos.
ALHAJA MUJIBAT OLUWATOYIN AKINADE
Alhaja Mujibat was born in Lagos to a prominent family in Lagos. She had her education in Lagos and Ogun State. She is a business tycoon with a special interest in agriculture. She is a Muslim activist.

ALHAJA SARIYU OLABISI SHUAIBU
Alhaja Sariyu daughter of late Chief Saliu Bolaji Bakare, popularly known as S.B. Bakare, the Sobaloju of Lagos and Saloro of Ijeshaland. Her mother was Alhaja Amudat Olufemi Bakare (nee Macaulay), the granddaughter of late Herbert Macaulay who was a grandson of late Bishop Ajayi Crowther. Her grandmother was Amunotu Savage (fondly known as Iya Idita of under the Apple Tree), a scion of the Shitta Bey family, who was also the mother of the immediate past Giwa Olori Giwa of Lagos Central Mosque, Alhaji I.A.S Adewale. Alhaja Sariyu Olabisi Shuaibu was educated at Corona School in Victoria Island, Lagos and International School Ibadan. She also attended Charters Towers and Edward Greene’s Tutorial College in England. She attended Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife, as an Economics student first before transferring to Law to fulfill her father’s wishes. Due to unforeseen circumstances, however, she decided to end her formal education before graduating. She is a successful business woman and was married to the late Alhaji Shuaibu Idris Sabon-Birni.
She is a Philanthropist with emphasis on support of Islamic causes. She is presently the Iya Adinni of Beleke Smith Mosque in Surulere and a Matron of United Muslim Council of Nigeria (UMC) International Nursery and Primary School, Shomolu. She has a very good association with Iranlowo Oluwa Mosque in Onilegogoro, Surulere.
