7 Killed After Fresh Suspected Herders Attack In Benue – Police

The Benue State Police Command have confirmed the killing of seven people by armed militia in an attack on Tse Adough settlement of Mbachom community in Yaav Ward of Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State.

Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), Moses Yamu, in a statement yesterday said the fresh invasion happened in the early hours of Sunday when some armed militia attacked Tse Adough, a village in Mbachom, Yaav ward, across River Katsina-Ala in Kwande LGA.

“Seven persons were killed, while six persons were injured. Some houses were also set ablaze. A female member of the village believably abducted has been seen. Efforts ongoing to apprehend the suspected murderous gang, while security has been beefed up in the area,” Yamu stated.

He added that the attack took place between 4:00am and 5:00am on Sunday.

Earlier, Chairman of Kwande LGA, Terdoo Nyor Kenti, told newsmen in Makurdi that the attack on his domain was worrisome as there were no prior disagreement between the locals and the herders who he accused invaded the armless people without the slightest provocation.

Kenti however said the attackers were suspected herders.
