Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Adetona, the Awujale & Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland is a powerful monarch in Nigeria.
Across Ijebuland, he is well respected. And he is also revered. At 89, he has achieved a lot. He is the 59th monarch of Ijebu nation.
He has spent 63 years on the throne of his forefathers. That amounts to 6 decades and 2 years on the throne.
He was announced Awujale on April 2, 1960.
Despite how powerful and influential he is, Awujale has about 80 Ijebu big men he has tremendous respect for. That is why he has made some of them Chiefs and Otunbas.
He has what is called The Council of Awujale Chiefs at the Aafin. The Chairman is Chief (Dr.) Sonny Kuku (OFR) who has just been made the Ogbeni Oja of Ijebuland. The Secretary of the Council is Chief Olu Okuboyejo (the Obasewa of Ijebu). He is a retired Super Parmanent Secretary and an elderstatesman.
There is also the Council of Otunbas of Ijebuland. Until his recent death, the Chairman was Otunba W.O. Osinusi and the Secretary is Otunba M. Akin Osiyemi.

Unfortunately, some of them have passed on, like Otunba Subomi Balogun, who until his death months back was the Otunba Tunwase & Olori Omooba of Ijebulsand.
Chief (Dr.) Chris Ogunbanjo, the Olotu of Ijebuland passed on a few months.
Otunba Wahab Osinusi, until he passed on a few months back was Otunba Fidipote. He was the Chairman of the Council of Otunba of Ijebuland.
The Awujale has appointed new Chiefs to replace them like K1 whom he made the new Olori Omooba and Otunba Jimi Lawal who Awujale gave 2 titles.
Who are the other big men? Otunba Mike Adenuga is one of them.
He is the Otunba Apesin of Ijebuland.
He enjoys a cordial relationship with the Awujale. Former Ogun Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel is another big Ijebu man who enjoys the confidence of the Awujale. He is Otunba Obalofin of Ijebuland. There is also Otunba Bashra Alebiosu. He is the Otunba Gbelegbuwa.
Otunba Olalekan Bello is another one. He is a Technocrat. He is the Otunba Atewokgbuwa. He is the Treasurer of the Council of Otunbas of Ijebuland. Otunba Oluseyi Oduntan is Otunba Osigale. He is the Publicity/Social Secretary.
Otunba Abayomi Odunowo is Cash Madam’s son. He is Otunba Obalewu. Otunba Arowolo is another big man Awujale likes.
