Everton manager, Ronald Koeman has revealed that it is not impossible for his 7th placed side to catch up with either Arsenal or Manchester United.

Koeman said this while he was at a pre-match press conference on Thursday.

“No. You and I know they are a strong team. They can struggle for a week or two but really they are strong and they have good players. It will be really tough to catch them but maybe if we can get six points, we can catch them and that would be possible”.

Everton play West Brom on Saturday in the English Premier League and the boss has revealed some team news.

“It’s a big test. West Brom will be tough because they are really strong – defensively very strong. Everyone knows their productivity out of set plays. They have scored 36 goals – 16 out of set plays – 12 out of corners.

“We need to be at our best and defend the strength of West Brom.

“Everton have only lost one match at home all season.

“To play good attractive football was one of the aims after last season. We have had some really strong performances and that’s a reason to be confident in difficult moments, defending 1-0 the team is OK and that is really important”.

“Yannick Bolasie had his surgery yesterday morning. It went well & we are really positive. There’s still a long way to go for the boy but he’s now working hard to come back as soon as possible.

“Mo Besic is doing well. He’s part of every training session but of course he needs more time. Dominic Calvert-Lewin is doing fine and should be fit for the weekend.”

When asked about the future of his goal poacher, Romelu Lukaku, Koeman said:

“He still has not signed a new deal but it is close. But in football there are no guarantees.”
