Algerians celebrate as President, Abedelaziz Bouteflika resigns

Algerians have taken to the street to celebrate the resignation of their President, Abedelaziz Bouteflika after week of protest by the citizens of the country.

Interestingly the former president had been in power for the past 20 years. He had battled with stroke in the last 6 years, and had not attended public events for over 5 years, but had shown his interest to run for another fifth term, but the Algerian army had to make a declaration that the president should be seen not capable of handling his political duties.

The out going president made a rare appearance on national T.V when military chief Lt. Gen Ahmed Gaed Salah had called on him to leave of immediately.

With the ex- president announcement its been a total celebration all over Algeria with people shouting and dancing even on the streets.
