On Friday, November 6th, 2019, the whole world gathered to celebrate an icon, a living legend, a movie icon who is not just anyhow veteran in the make-believe world but an outstanding boss who has carved a great niche for himself, Alhaji Taiwo Hassan that everybody known and called Ogogo. He celebrated his birthday in grand style, and it was as if we’ve never witnessed a birthday party. Or how do we describe and event that over 7 monarchs were present? How do we describe an event that has the presence of topnotch politicians name it; Senators, Honorable e.tc? How best can we describe an event that has the a-list of Celebrities in Nigeria in attendance? It was indeed a star-studded event.

Yard 158 Event Center, Oregun was filled to the brim. Every road network that leads to Oregun on this beautiful day knew that something happened because it has never been that busy for a very long time. Everywhere was stood still all for Ogogo at 60. Tell me why it will not be so? This is a man that is loved by many all over the world. A man who has contributed to the growth of what is today called Nollywood. A man who through is help and act of professionalism has raised many, as many celebrities will never conclude the stories of their journey in life without mentioning the impact of Ogogo in their career. No wonder celebrities’ presence became a competition at this great event.

The 60th birthday celebration of Ogogo took him a whole week to celebrate without living any stone unturned. The celebration started on Monday 2nd November 2019 with the visitation of the celebrator and his team members; made up of Gbenga Ayodele (USA), Kaka, Alhaji Kamoru Adebayo (Sir K), Dr. AkeemTaiwo, Saheed (Spider), Sunny Ali, Alesh Onilegbale, Bimbo Thomas and many others, to his home town, Ilaro, where he received royal blessing from the King, Olu of Ilaro, Paramount ruler of Yewaland, HRM Oba Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle-Asade Agunloye IV, and followed by the commissioning of the ultra-modern borehole he donated to his old Primary School, Christ Church School, Ilaro, the school he left 49 years ago.

And on Wednesday 4th November, 2019, the celebrator, Alhaji Taiwo Hassan (Ogogo) with his formidable team members (as mentioned above) also visited different health centers in Lagos to present gift items to them in marking of his 60th birthday. On this same day, he received many guests at home, those that came to rejoice with him while some came to present him beautiful gifts.

On Thursday 5th November a novelty match was held between Ogogo All-Stars and Obasa All-Stars, at the Agege Stadium, Agege.  It gathered all the Lagos Lawmakers and Nollywood movie stars, as they played together in honor of the living legend, Alhaji Taiwo Hassan Ogogo. It was indeed a supremacy battle between the Hon. Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa’s team and Alhaji Taiwo Hassan Ogogo’s team as they trashed it out on the pitch with 2:2. Ogogo All-Star team that played on that day comprises of, Yinka Quadri, Taiwo Hassan, Dele Odule, Abbey Lanre, Mutiu Adepoju, Funsho Adeolu, Yomi Fash-Lanso, Sule Alao Malaika, Yemi Solade, Akin Olaiya, Ebun Oloyede, Afonja Olaniyi a.k.a Sanyeri, Adekola Tijani a.k.a Kamilu Kompo, Sunny Alli, Alesh Onilegbale, Fuad Oki, Yomi Fabiyi, Muka Ray. Antar Laniyan was the coach while Asst Coach was Kamoru Adebayo (Sir K). And the Technical Crew were; Bimbo Thomas, Fathia Williams, Bisi Ibidapo Obe, Lola Ajibola, Saheed Yusuf, Kemi Korede, Alesh Onilegbale, Azeez Onifade.

Now, on Friday 6th which was the D-Day, City People Magazine/TV Crew led by Assistant Editor/Head of City People TV, SUNDAY ADIGUN was at the party to serve you the gist of how it was unfolded.

IT WAS A BLUE AFFAIR

Whoever suggested blue as the color of the day for this great event must have been a genius. Not only that the blue color decoration beautifies and transforms the venue, but every of it symbolises peace and bad spirits were kept away. 90% of women wore the beautiful and expensive colored sequence, while men complimented it with a White colour with blue embroidery cap.

OVER 500 WOMEN DAZZLED IN 35K ASO EBI

Beautiful women are the delight of any party. They are the salt that must not found missing in any soup. With a sequence fabric Aso-Ebi that cost the whopping sum of 35k per 5 yards, many beautiful and high-class women dazzled in it. You needed to see how many of these powerful and super dresser ladies stepped into the hall elegantly. Some came with their hubby while some came in the company of their friends. They complimented this beautiful Aso-Ebi clothes with topnotch embroideries. What about their jaw-dropping styles? Gorgeous! Undoubtedly, the Ogogo 60th party was nothing but a high-class fashion show.

DOYIN KUKOYI AND KOFFI COMPERE

For a classy event such as this, you need a Mc that is equal to the task. Those that know how to make their guests day colourful. The likes of those MCs are very rare, but with Doyin Kukoyi, popular Gbajumo Osere programme presenter and veteran comedian, Koffi, you can never get it wrong. Trust the dancing queen, Doyin, and Koffi complimented each other and made the night worthwhile for all the guests.

KING WASIU AYINDE ON THE BANDSTAND

With the King of Fuji Music, Wasiu Ayinde Adewale Omogbolahan Olasunkanmi Anifowoshe K1 De Ultimate you can never get it wrong at all. His performance any day anytime is always on point. There is no stopping for at all. He was on the bandstand at the 60th birthday of Ogogo. He literally made everyone stay glued to his lyrics with his performance. At past 11 pm the whole hall was still full to the brim because they are enjoying King Wasiu Ayinde.

AYO EWEBIYI, ORIGINALMC2GO, FAROUQ AND OTHERS PRAISE OGOGO

It was a great evening for all the professional poets in the house, as they performed one after the other. Ayo Ewebiyi, the female praise chanter performed excellently well, originalmc2go an online professional chanter also did his best. 11 years old poet, Farouq from Ilaro and many others also did well in praising Ogogo.

YAYI GAVE OGOGO BRAND NEW VENZA JEEP

Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, also known by the alias Yayi, the Senator representing Lagos West and Chairman of House of Representatives Committee on Public Accounts surprises everyone on this day. He was everywhere greeting and exchanging pleasantries with everyone. Everybody wants to come to his table to say hello to the handsome senator. The love people have for him was increased when he was called up on stage and he gifted a brand new Venza Jeep to the celebrator, Alhaji Taiwo Hassan Ogogo.

OLU OF ILARO TRIUMPHANT ENTRY

The Olu of Ilaro and paramount ruler of Yewaland, who is also the Chairman, Ogun State Council of Obas, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle was at the 60th birthday of Alhaji Taiwo Hassan, Ogogo. He came in the company of other notable monarchs, and he was very much on ground almost till the end of the party. Undoubtedly, Ogogo is indeed a bona fide son of the soil for this to have happened. 

BALIQIS ALAGA DID WONDERS

Call her a professional caterer; you sure know what you are saying. Baliqis Alaga is one of the food vendors of our time. She caters for every kinds of meal you may need yesterday. Their food was superb. Her servers are very smart, they are not the types that look at faces before they serve, all you need is to beckon on them and before you know it, they are at your service.

IBD DENDE HONOURS OGOGO

The name surely rings a bell; Chief Ibrahim Egungbohun, popularly called Dende. The Ilaro, Yewa, Ogun-born socialite and deep-pocketed businessman has his name on many lips because of his stupendous wealth and how he spends big. Dende is like a king in his hometown, Ilaro in Ogun State where interestingly, he has lived all his life. He is well-loved by his people who throng to him for different kinds of help. Outside Ilaro however, Dende is a big name. This great man was very much on the ground for Ogogo. He came in the company of friends and family to honor the man he always calls his brother.

MC OLUOMO HONOURS OGOGO

Another powerful socialite on ground was the king of Oshodi himself, Chairman, Caretaker Committee of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, as usual, came with his entourage to support Alhaji Taiwo Hassan.

WHO GOT K1 ANGRY?

I know many people will ask what my business is now. But, it’s not my fault; I was only trying to keep to my word, my promises to serve you the full gist. Do you know that King Wasiu Ayinde Masha wasn’t happy for almost 1 hour? Yes, he was so furious on stage where he seated. He almost found it difficult to answer anyone’s greetings. It became noticeable when the celebrator and other friends mounted up the stage to pacify him. Now, the question is who got him angry? We gathered that it was due to a report that got to him while on his way coming, that, one of the over sabi bouncers smashed his laptop that was with one of his media boys on the floor, just because they refused to listen to him. Kwam 1 on his arrival summoned the bouncer and his boys beat him hands down for lack of respect and a display of eye service. Though, he later came to apologize to K1 for his misconduct.
