•It Was Star-Studded Event In LAGOS

Yuletide season comes with celebration of the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ, hence a Carol service at Olorunwo cathedral in Lagos. His Eminence, Primate Dr Emmanuel Omolaja Aremu Olorunwo, the presiding shepherd of the Cathedral Church of Cherubim and Seraphim of Nigeria Gbagada Lagos with different branches around the globe played host to many Ogun State politicians in a 9 lesson Carol service. Xmas colours including green, red and gold were used in decorating the entrance and main auditorium which gave the hall of worship a beautiful ambiance.  This annual event which is usually big had the attendance of dignitaries, politicians, captains of industries, professors, clergy to mention but a few). The 34th Christmas carol and service of nine lessons took place at the church Auditorium on Sunday 8th December 2019 and City People Society Reporter, TITILOPE OGUNLEYE (07065567191), was there to give you exciting gist.

CAPTAINS OF INDUSTRY READ THE 9 LESSON

The event starts at 12 pm with a processional hymn and call to worship by the choir. The opening prayer was conducted and the choir gave a beautiful rendition of the introductory song the first lesson was taken by  Omolara Akinfenwa. She had the reading in Yoruba language and that brought more spice to the event.  Yeye Ajisoge-Alayo of Ogudu land, Chief Mrs. Comfort Adepoju (NNPC Abuja) read the 2nd lesson. The immediate past Attorney General of Ogun State AG Dr Olumide Ayeni delivered the 3rd lesson. The 4th lesson was read by the surveyor-general of Ogun State, Surv. Dr. O Onasosen. Shortly after, the ministers in charge led the congregation to pray for our dear country Nigeria and all the political leaders at different levels.  Professor Derin Ologbenla, a professor of Political Science UNILAG led the reading of the 5th lesson.  Prof. Iyiola Oni, an erudite Professor of Transport Geography read the 6th carol lesson. The 7th carol lesson was taken by Prof. Eddy Omoleyin, a Professor of accounting in UNILAG. Chief Architect Tokunbo Omisore, former president African Union of Architect and patron of the Olorunwo Cathedral Choir read the eighth bible lesson. The 9th Bible lesson which was the last for the carol service was taken by Chief Dr. Mrs. Olufunso Amosun, the former first lady of Ogun State and the Moremi of Yorubaland (Iya Ajiri). 

PRIMATE OLORUNWO SHOWERS SPECIAL PRAYERS ON DIGNITARIES

Shortly after the reading of the fifth lesson, primate Olorunwo the Ba Adura Of Egbaland, took over the microphone to shower special prayer on all dignitaries present including the Deputy Inspector General of Police of Operations Abuja Mr Abdulmajid Alli, HRH Oba Dr Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, Alake and paramount ruler of Egbaland former First Lady of Ogun State Chief Mrs Olufunso Amosun, former Deputy Governor Ogun State Chief Mrs Yetunde Onanuga, Chief Francis Olaniyan, Chief Magistrate Bolanle Adebowale, Chief Basorun Doja Adewole (MFR), Chief Architect Tokunbo Omisore,  Prince Mayowa Adejobi (P. A. to DIG), former Commissioner for Environment of Ogun State Hon. Bolaji Oyeleye, Bishop Titi Adebanjo,  Dr. Seye Kehinde,  Surv, Dr. Onososen, Mr. MBA Adams, Hon Prince Kayode Akinlolu to mention but a few.

Primate Olorunwo also took time to specially pray for the nine-lesson readers and he invited eminent personalities for their thanksgiving. He also mentioned that the multi-purpose hall project is in progress. The multi-purpose hall which will be having bakery house, canteen house, lodging rooms, public toilets, prayer mountain, pure water for people, parking space at Yobo Town off Papa Alanto Ilaro road is almost in completion and he mentioned that the dignitaries would be invited when the project is concluded.

OLORUNWO CATHEDRAL CHOIR THRILL GUESTS

The amazing choir of the Olorunwo Cathedral Church, dressed in a gold and green outfit thrilled the guest with a sonorous rendition of carol songs.  The orchestra was too perfect to be faulted. They sang in different languages to the admiration of many.  Popular on Air Personality Motunde known as Lolo 1 was spotted in the choir uniform and the team  perfectly sang different genres of music.

PRIMATE OLORUNWOS BEST FRIEND CHIEF FRANCIS OLANIYAN GOT A DESERVED ACCOLADE

Everyone who has come in contact with Primate Olorunwo would have met or heard about his friend of over 55 years Chief Dr Christian Francis Olaniyan, the founder of Victory school who turned 90 recently. Primate Olorunwo used a full page of the Xmas Carol Magazine to appreciate and felicitate with his dear friend. He spoke so highly of him and how he has impacted his life, family and church and he prayed that God will continually grant more than his desires. 

OGUN STATE FORMER GOVERNOR SENATOR AMOSUN WASTHE SPECIAL GUEST OF HONOUR

The special guest of Honour Senator Ibikunle Amosun was ably represented by his wife Her Excellency Chief Dr Mrs OLufunso Amosun (Moremi of Yoruba land) Iya Ajiri who was dressed in a luxury sequence lace as she conveyed the goodwill message of her husband to the church. Senator Amosun is saying thank you to all members of the Olorunwo Cathedral Church for their fervent prayers and support throughout his eight years as the Governor of Ogun State most especially His Eminence Baba Olorunwo. Thank you and God bless.

FORMER OGUN FIRST LADY OLUFUNSO AMOSUN STEPS OUT IN STYLE

Chief Mrs Olufunso Amosun is a combination of beauty and brain. She is an amiable woman who wears a great smile always. All eyes was on her as she walked in majestically into the church auditorium making a fashion statement as she dazzled in a luxury sequence lace with a headgear, jewelries, purse and shoe to match her outfit. She is a beauty goddess and fashion statement and her style is one watch out for at occasions. On arrival, she went to Snr. Rev Apostolic Mother Prophetess K.B Olorunwo, the beautiful wife of primate Olorunwo to greet her before approaching her seat.

EXHORTATION BY VENERABLE O.J OLORUNWO

Ven. Barrister O.J. Olorunwo is the son of Primate Olorunwo and also an officiating minister in the cathedral. He titled his sermon Christ Birth: A symbol of humility.  He quoted scriptures Isaiah 9;6-7, Luke 2;11. He laid emphasis on the birth of the savior of the world in a manger and that a lot of people would have thought that the savior of the world will come through so much affluence and wealth. He mentioned that Christ came through humility and that is the attribute expected of every Christian notwithstanding their status in the society, asset, net worth and treasures. He admonished the congregation that humility is a tool in God’s hand and God even graces the humble and resists the proud and that humility opens unusual doors. He mentioned that individuals must treat what they have, who they are with humility knowing that God hates the proud. He closed the sermon by saying that the world will be a better place when we all don’t see ourselves greater than anyone else.

CHIEF OLUSEGUN OBASANJO Sends GOODWILL MESSAGE

His Excellency Chief Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo, former President Federal Republic of Nigeria sent his goodwill message. He came in person for 2018 Christmas Carol but was unavoidably absent this year. He congratulates Primate Olorunwo and the entire members of Olorunwo Cathedral Church of the Cherubim and Seraphim and prayed that will continually keep. Bless, protect and promote them. 

ALAKE OF EGBALAND GIVES GOODWILL MESSAGE

HRH Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo gave God thanks for making it possible for him to witness the 34 Carol Service of Olorunwo Cathedral Church of Cherubim and Seraphim. He also utilizes the moment to deeply appreciate Primate Olorunwo for his counsel, support and prayers over the years. He also prayed that he will always be present for Olorunwo Cathedral Church carol as God spares his life. He also prayed that God will grant the heart desires of everyone present and they will testify in the next edition.

VOTE OF THANKS BY PROF. OLATUNDE OTUSANYA

Associate Professor of Accounting Olatunde Otusanya gave thanks to God who the event a successful one and also to Primate Olorunwo has remained as a spiritual shepherd over the church.  He appreciated the board of committee who has worked tirelessly to make the occasion a success, and to all the dignitaries who honoured God with their presence. He did not also fail to recognize the contributions of the officiating minister as well as the congregation and he prayed that God will keep and multiply everyone who came and also grant them journey mercies to their various destinations.
