Godswill Akpabio’s rival, Christopher Ekpenyong has been sworn-in following his defeat of the former governor at the rerun of Senatorial polls in Akwa Ibom State last week.
Senator Godswill Akpabio who is now the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs and a former governor contested on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) against Christopher Ekpenyong of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the seat of Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District.
This is the second time Mr Ekpenyong is being sworn-into the ninth Senate by the President of the Senate, Dr Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan having taken the oath of office on 11th June 2019 before the Court of Appeal invalidated part of votes he claimed to have won.
Ekpenyong was former Deputy Governor to Senator Godswill Akpabio when they held sway for eight years in Akwa Ibom State before the duo’s relationship went awry.
