Saturday 25th January 2020, the Ibadan social establishment witnessed yet another major party of the year. It was the popular Lagos big boy and Sidewalk Lounge boss, Kunle Adegbite’s mom’s 70th birthday. Kunle, alongside his other siblings, didn’t spare any cost in making the event a glamorous one. Geeks Event Place, Falana area of Challenge, venue of the reception was jam-packed. Top players on the social scene from Lagos, Abuja and beyond were all in Ibadan for the party.

Kunle Adegbite and siblings have every reason to thank God for their mother’s life. Despite all she has gone through, she is still standing strong and healthy and beautiful at 70.

The best of the best of party vendors were engaged, the venue was transformed into a small paradise with the superlative decoration. Martha’s Kitchen provided the sumptuous dishes, Ice Box handled drinks while Amala Spot was in charge of a local dish. Grind Grill took charge of finger foods, M.C Obama anchored the events. The popular S.B Band entertained guests with their excellent performance, while D.J Sammy was on the wheels of steel.

The whole arrangements were just on point. The food, drinks, music coupled with the quality of personalities that attended the party, no doubt, made it a classic one. All kinds of choice drinks including champagne, Hennessy, red wine and co flowed like water. It was a party to remember, as big boys partied till 10 pm in the night. Oh! We almost forgot to tell you about the beautifully decorated 2-step birthday cake, which comes in White, Purple and a little touch of Gold. Purple was the colour theme for the party.

MEET MAMA 70, PRINCESS OLUFEMI ADEGBITE

Princess Margaret Olufemi Adegbite was born on 20 January 1950, into the royal family of late Prince Oluseye and Comfort Abimbola Akinyele of Abolude’s compound, Alafara, Ibadan. Her father was one of the sons of late former Olubadan of Ibadanland, Pastor Oba I.B Akinyele, a knight of the order of British (OBE).

She started her primary school education at the prestigious Children’s Home School, Oke-Ado, Ibadan. After which she proceeded to C.A.C Babalola Memorial Grammar School, Ilesa. She later studied Poultry and Animal Husbandry at I.A.R.T, Moor Plantation, Ibadan. Princess Adegbite started her working career at the Pay and Records department of the Nigerian Army, Iwo Road, Ibadan. She was later to float a poultry business jointly run with her late husband, Alhaji M.O Adegbite. But after her husband’s death in 1994, she followed her passion and started a culinary training outfit, Mistress Taste, which grew to become the most patronised outfit and later to a family business. Princess Margaret Olufemi Adefemi is a devoted Christian and highly committed and loving mother and grandmother. She is a Deaconess at David’s Family International Christian Centre, Ibadan.

ON MAMA’S YOUTHFUL LOOKS

Princess Margaret Adegbite is no doubt enjoying the special grace of God. At 70, she doesn’t look her age at all. She is looking younger, strong, fresh and beautiful. In fact, she could be passed for a woman in her 50s. This is despite all she went through; she battled serious health challenges, lost her husband, mother and sister all between the age of 40 and 50. But she kept faith with God and remained steadfast, and today, she is a conqueror. All her children are doing wonderfully well, the grandchildren, daughters and sons-in-law are also all around her. Guess what? Mama is not just beautiful, she is charismatic also a fashionista. She changed into different attires more two times at the party. Do you blame her? It was her glorious day.

ABOUT THE CHILDREN

At 70, Mama is a fulfilled woman in all ramifications. She is aging gracefully, her children are doing well, the grandchildren are doing great and above all, she knows Christ. She is a devoted Christian. Her wonderful children include Mrs. Abiodun Muomah, Kunle Adegbite, Tolani Okunlola, Abiola Adegbite and Muiz Adegbite. They are all doing exploits in their various chosen endeavours.

WITH LOVE FROM CHILDREN HOME SCHOOL OLD STUDENTS

The Old Students Association of the Children Home School were not left out of actions at the party, they came in full force to honour one of them, Princess Margaret Adegbite as she turns 70. Some of those sighted at the grand occasion include Mrs. Adekunbi Adelabu, Alhaji Remi Adeleke, Prince Adedeji Gbadebo and a whole lot of others.

Apart from all the merriments, one fact that was established at the party was that Mama is well-loved and respected by all and sundry. There were many testimonies to that during the tribute section at the party. As Mama is loved in society, she is also loved in the Church. No wonder virtually all members of David’s Family International Christian Center came to the party. She is a Deaconess in the Church and was where a Church service earlier held before the reception.

BIG BOYS IN THE HOUSE

What makes a party thick apart from the arrangement, food, drinks and music, is the quality of guests in attendance. Kunle Adegbite’s mom’s 70th birthday party was classy in every form. Top celebrities from different sectors turned out in their numbers. The very powerful big boys in Media, Entertainment, Hospitality, Banking, Politics and what have you were present. Some of them include Honourable Adedeji Stanley Olajide (Odidi Omo), the honorable representing Ibadan Southwest/Northwest in the Federal House of Reps; the famous Global Excellence Magazine Publisher, Mayor Akinpelu; MD/CEO No. 1 Hotel; Mr. Tunji Osunsanya, a property guru; an astute banker known as Dangote Osogbo; Otunba Richard Olafare who came with his beautiful wife, Yeye Otunba Olafare; Mr. Yinka Omikunle; popular businessman of the Omo Gafo fame, Wale Fowosere; Jide Adediran, MD/CEO Core Media; Marketing Communication expert and CEO Sodium Brand Solutions, Abisoye Fagade; Ayo Alatise; Jide Alao; Ex-International footballer, Mr. Mutiu Adepoju and others.

AMBASSADOR TAOFEEK ARAPAJA SPECIAL ROLE

Oyo former Deputy Governor and former Nigeria’s Ambassador to Jordan, Alhaji Taofeek Arapaja was one of the celebrator’s neighbors at Felele who graced the occasion. He was there in the company of his beautiful wife, Chief (Mrs.) Abiodun Apapaja and a powerful entourage. Hon. S.B Ojo, Hon. Fatai Adesina and Hon. Abiodun Adedeji (Ekolo) were part of his entourage.

Arapaja, however, didn’t just attend the party as a neighbor, he played some other important roles. He delivered a brief but highly impressive keynote address in honour of the celebrator. He also coordinated the cutting of the beautiful birthday cake. 

THE PACESETTER CONNECTION

Pacesetter Club of Abe-Igi inside Liberty Stadium was fully represented at the party too. They came to support one of them, Biola who is Mama Adegbite’s son. The power delegate was led to the party by Ex-International and Team Manager of the prestigious Shooting Stars Club, Mr. Dimeji Lawal. Mr. Gbenga Lotto, Bisi Kuku, Tunde Ayanda, Seun Adegoke, Ladoja and others were also part of the team.
