IPONRIKU MASQUERADE WILL COMPLY WITH OLUBADAN RESTRICTION ORDER

The Ekerin Ajengbe Chieftaincy Family of SW1/131,Ode Ekerin,Ibadan,Oyo State of Nigeria,today at a media briefing in Ibadan,pledged to comply with the royal order of the Olubadan of Ibadanland,Oba Saliu Adetunji,Aje Ogungunniso 1 restricting all Ibadan masquerades to their shrines and family compounds during the ongoing Egungun Festival in the city.

Oloye ‘,Lekan Alabi,Ekefa Olubadan of Ibadanland,speaking on behalf of the Ekerin Ajengbe Chieftaincy Family,agreed that these times of lockdown and social distancing,occasioned by the raging Coronavirus(COVID-19),demanded great caution and total compliance with the government and health institutions  instructions on preventing the spread of the pandemic.

The Iponriku masquerade,one of the five leading Ibadan masquerades,is owned by the Ekerin Ajengbe Chieftaincy Family and it makes its outing every three years.As such,the masquerade’s next public outing is in 2023.
