She is one of the most talented naija actresses in Atlanta,Georgia.She is also a Movie Producer, and a good one at that.A few days ago she spoke to Citypeople about her success story. Below are excerpts.
Please introduce yourself to us and what you do for a living……
My name is Ranti Jacobs Agbaminoja aka Alore L’America, CEO Imoran Media ⁵Concept, CEO Post-Polio Support Organization and President of SAVE a Soul Organization.
I am an all-round entertainment Specialist in the USA. I am into entertainment business including media. My Company Imoran Media is an Executive in the media industry in the United State of America, managing Artists, documentary production, movie production, emceeing for events, hosting red carpets, packaging corporate events, production of jingles just to mention a few. But for me as an individual here are the things I do for a living. Am a Tv Presenter, Radio Presenter, Red Carpet Host and Event Host.
How did acting start for you?
For me, acting has been inbuilt. I started when I was very young in the city of Ebute Metta, Ondo Street. I started with a popular Nigerian talk show, then, Speak Out. That was in the 1990s. This was a talk show I used to be part of. My mom is a realist in the Christendom, and she does not wish for me to be an actress and she wanted me to be a lawyer. That was my dream in life because my late father was a lawyer. I am considered as a very outspoken child amongst my siblings.
All of a sudden, I picked interest in art by participating in church drama’s and writing songs and all. It was very difficult for me as a child to get involved as much I would like to because my mom would rather let me get involved with my academics than pursing my passion for acting because I was not doing very well in my academic and this would make my mom cry and feel bitter been a single mom,wanting me to be focused to become a reputable lawyer like my late father.
But at some point, she just let go and said to me that if I want to be an artist she will support me but I must keep up with my grades. This was like a news that turned my life around, I never knew I was such a smart girl until after this news. Then I began to step on a more recognizable ladder of intelligence. I began to do well in school. I was not allowed to feature in the general home videos because my mom believes I may likely grow too wild.
There were restrictions on what I can do and what I may likely never do in the industry. So she confined me to only work with Wale Adenuga Productions where I met my very own mentor and father who later believed in my abilities in the film industry Antar Laniyan.
I forgot to mention that I was also into modeling, and I did some modelling jobs before I relocated to the USA.like Delta Soap, Vicks Lemon Plus, Coca Cola, Legend Extra South and a few more that I cannot even remember.
You have been acting now for how long?
For about 3 decades I have been acting now, i am sure you will be like wow, really? And you will be like the face is not known. And my answer will still be the same. I have been acting for about thirty good years now.
How challenging has it been sustaining your interest in acting abroad?
It has been a very huge challenge because when I relocated about 20 years ago to the United State there was no social media to keep up with the flow of your abilities in the industry, nothing was accessible for me to do skits and all sort of things. But one thing that I was able to do was to get a refresher course done in LA at the Film Connection Institute which kind of push me to the American System have been invited to work some American productions as a background actor which actually was good, and it pays really good as well.
Who are those actors you roll with abroad?
I roll with all the actors that are here in the USA. Every one of them were here in Atlanta Georgia during the production of my yet to be released movie titled Guilty Advice.
Where were you born? Where did you grow up? Which schools did you attend?
I was born in Lagos and grew up in Ebute Metta. I attended Mount Carmel Convent School, Ebute Metta for my primary education. Wesley Girls High School for my Secondary education. For my higher institution I attended Nigerian Institute of Journalism for a diploma in Journalism and Lagos State University for a degree in Print Journalism. I also went to PEFTI a Wale Adenuga School of Acting.
