Congratulations on the celebration of your 70th birthday Dad. I understand so many things now and I am grateful that you are my father. Your integrity and graciousness, till today, is unmatched. I understand now why you insist that a good name is by far one of the most important things one can aspire to leave for the next generation. The values have helped me make decisions and stand by my decisions.

Thank You for guiding me to become the man I am today. Thank you for being an amazing grandfather to my children and an even amazing father in law to my wife. Thank you for understanding my growth, even when it was hard. Thank you for always believing in me. Although you don’t say it, I can feel it. No amount of words will ever be enough to explain how much You mean.

Happy Birthday Dad.

– Tunji Alapini Jnr

Great fathers are the ones who guide their children, but still, let them make their own decisions and learn from their mistakes. I know I don’t say it often, but I really do appreciate all the sacrifices and hard work you put into raising me.

Happy birthday dad, I love you.

– Alapini Ademola A.

Dear Dad,

I am so proud of you, what you stand for, who you ate, what you have achieved and everything in between. Congratulations on reaching this milestone birthday. There really isn’t any 70-year-old cooler than you that currently exists.

Thank You for teaching me that diplomacy and integrity is possible. Thank you for teaching me genuine kindness through your actions. Thank you for letting everyone around you understand the importance of generosity and how it cuts across generations. Thank You most importantly for working hard to have a good name. I have still not met anyone who has had any bad things to say about you.

You are not a people pleaser, so this is exceptional in every sense.

Your support in everything means a lot. Your ability to advise based on experiences and humility to understand my choices when we don’t agree is heart-warming. I look up to you and love you for the father, grandfather and person that you are.

Happy 70th Birthday Dad.

– Bankole  Alapini

Happy birthday dear Dad. I am grateful to God for the opportunity to celebrate you and let you know you are a good man. It is one thing to hear so many good things about a person, and another to experience these things. Although disciplined, you are not rigid, and that will always count. You will never be put to shame, because you always come through.

There are only two kinds of fathers-in-law. One who behaves just like a father-in-law and the second who behaves like a true father, no matter what. You’re the second and I wish you stay that way always. May God continue to give you the grace to keep touching lives and spreading love and warmth everywhere You go.

Love always,

– Oluchi Alapini

Dad, thank you for being who you are to me. You’re not just a father but also a friend. Thank you for always being available and always saying things as you see them without ruling out my opinion. I am grateful for the kind of relationship we have and all the lessons on the importance of a good name. You demonstrate such great integrity that I can depend on. As you turn 70, may God continually show his unending love for you in Jesus name.

I love you, Dad.

– Omotoyosi Alapini

Daddy,

I tell you all the time you are an amazing human being. If there’s one thing I am sure of, it would be that most people would describe you as a kind person. The best part of my relationship with you is how you made me comfortable from the first day I greeted you un till today. I didn’t even have to try to be someone else. Your ability to bond with everyone based on their character still amazes me.

I will forever appreciate the effort you have particularly made to adjust to our individual growths, even the different personalities of your grandchildren, and still make everyone feel loved.

You are a legend, and I am not even joking.

Most People typically say father in love, out of politeness, Lol, but you really are my father in love. May your days be long, May You continue to grow in good health, peace of mind, wealth and positive Vibes. Happy 70th Birthday to the coolest and most stylish Grandpa ever.

You are soooooo loved and I hope you feel it every day.

“Bra Bra Gbogbo Irawo” as I fondly call my Egbon by four months .. Johnny TunjiAlapini.

My brother from another mother seventy years looks good on you. I remember our Apapa days way back in the sixties. When we rode the ferry “Caitlin” from Apapa to Marina to and fro …

You will come visiting and I would ride back with you sometimes playing in the rain even when we had been told not to do so.

I cannot forget the seventies, eighties, even the nineties .. let’s not forget our trips … Abeokuta .. Ghana .. Benin .. Oshogbo .. London .. Atlanta.

We have indeed come a very very long way.

We have been through thick and thin together. Our journey together spans nearly all our lives.

The fact that we share the name “Tunji” is indeed another matter (LOL).

My family join me in congratulating you on this joyous occasion of your three score and ten years.

May the grace and love of God that has brought us all this far continue to bless, protect, increase and prosper you and your family today and evermore. May you live as long as you want. May you never want as long as you live in the name of Jesus.

Happy Birthday “Bra Bra Gbogbo Irawo”

Chief John Olatunji Alapini: An Officer & A Gentleman

I recall one bright and sunny afternoon a couple of years ago, I received a call from the then Governor of Ogun State, Otunbo Gbenga Daniel, to say that a senior Police officer was coming to see me discuss urgent matters of State. Shortly thereafter, the Police Officer was ushered into the Commissioner of Finance’s office, as I then was.

When the fine gentleman approached me and stretched out his hand to say hello, I was quite taken aback and very pleasantly surprised. He was tall, handsome, impeccably dressed and very well-spoken. Quite different from the Police officers I was familiar with. I immediately developed an affinity for him and that was the beginning of our friendship.

For the entire duration of his tenure in Ogun State as the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State witnessed peace and the crime rate was reduced remarkably. He was enthusiastic about his work and was very diligent at it. He is always fair in his judgements, very forthright and bold in his decision making.

Little wonder that when his tenure came to an end and he was posted out of Ogun State, we were quite sad and missed him sorely.

Chief John Olatunji Alapini has been a true friend and indeed a worthy elder brother. He is quite generous, compassionate, and dependable. It, therefore, gives me tremendous pleasure to be able to celebrate him now. On behalf of my family and I, we wish him a happy 70th birthday and pray that God Almighty will continue to bless him and keep him in good health of mind and body.

Congratulations & best wishes to an amazing man and awesome friend.

– Otunba Lekan Belo.

Congratulations to my friend, my brother as you clock the Biblical age of 70. May the good lord grant you long life in good health and more prosperity. May you live to enjoy the company of your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Amen.

You served the country with integrity meritoriously as the IGP we never had. Ride on brother, you have your back covered by his grace.

TUNJI ALAPINI: EPITOME OF A QUINTESSENTIAL GENTLEMAN AT 70

As friends and family celebrate Tunji Alapini at 70, it gives me great pleasure to pay tribute to a rare breed of a gentleman, acclaimed first-rate cop, public intellectual and an accomplished, distinguished and celebrated son of Lagos State.

Tunji Alapini or TJ as we fondly call him is an amazingly delightful jolly good fellow with an unparalleled sagacity. He is a peace advocate, a reliable and dependable ally and collaborator in the public good and societal advancement. He earned my high regard and admiration on account of his personal attributes and reputation of good character, uncommon refinement, unalloyed commitment and passion for the public good, integrity, forthrightness, courage of conviction, elevated mind and deep thinking.

By every standard, TJ is one of the most respected ‘omoluabi’ public figures of his generation, who has acquitted himself honourably as a model of excellence in public service. His works and legacy as the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police is still a reference point.

Arguably, due to his organic nature, training as a Police Officer with a highly cultivated fecund mind and philosophy as a passionate humanist, TJ has an endearing simple orientation about life and living. As an agent of community, social transformation and national development, he possesses in rich measure, a demonstrable and identifiable strong commitment to the cause and true interest of his roots. His bridge-building capacity is evident in his high social capital and the broad network of friends, associates and admirers across the length and breadth of Nigeria. As a people’s man, his persona radiates warmth and charm; he demonstrates in practical terms, amity, true love and open-mindedness to everyone. I am therefore not surprised about the quantum of goodwill he commands.

I consider TJ as a patriot in the true sense of the word, who is reputed for his cosmopolitan and liberal disposition and broad worldview. Religious creed and ethnic considerations take the back seat in his relationship with people.

I am personally very proud to be closely associated with TJ. It is therefore with a high sense of honour that I congratulate and heartily rejoice with him on the occasion of his 70th Birthday. As we celebrate TJ today, may God’s grace and blessings of the length of days, vitality, peace and all-around fulfilment continue to abound for him and his entire household. Omo Nla, happy birthday and many happy returns.

Chief Bayo Ojo SAN, CON

70 already? I still remember your 60th birthday celebration. We thank God for all His mercies my brother. This milestone is a salute to a Fine Officer, Gregorian and friend.

Tunji in his Police uniform would ha e made you want to be a policeman. O mu ise Olopo wun ni. He was always smartly dressed. He obviously enjoyed his various postings and handled the pressures of each assignment ease. In these days when so many government spokespersons are an embarrassment to their agencies and themselves, Tunji sold the Lagos Police Command to the admiration of all. A man worthy of emulation, it is no surprise that he has a son who has followed in his footsteps.

His alma mater, St. Gregory’s College Obalende, imbued in him sterling qualities. It made him a well-grounded person confident in whom he is bur with the ability to mix with all cadre of persons high and low. Even as a senior police officer he opted t0 stay in his family quarters in the Popo Aguda area of Lagos Island. A very sociable person, being around him is always interesting. My wish for you on this landmark birthday is that you continue t0 stand tall in integrity and good health.

I pray that we shall be around for another 10 years to celebrate your 80th Birthday. Happy Birthday my brother. “SHON!!!”

My name is Dr Obafemi Bank-Olemoh, one of Chief Tunji John Alapini’s friends. We became friends at the age of 4. He was my best man at my wedding and I at his. That should put some context to the conception of our friendship and the way we have valued our relationship over the years. We are both proud Lagosians.

Chief T.J Alapini is a dependable, courageous, dutiful, discipline, fair-minded and caring person. A person that one can truly count on, in good times and in bad times. A loving father and husband.

My wife and I, and our children, give God, all the honour and glory for allowing him celebrate his 70th birthday in good health and well-being. We are proud of his achievements and our association with him.

The Lord will continue to bless and preserve you. He will satisfy you with good health and you will enjoy His peace and favour all the days of your life in the mighty name of Jesus.

70th Birthday wishes Mr Tunji Alapini AIG Rtd.

“Seventy is the sum of our years and eighty for those who are strong”

Hearty congratulations this 3rd day of January 2022, to our beloved Tunji Alapini, AIG (rtd).

70 years on our turpsy-turvy world, filled with wonderful, kind and generous individuals but also wicked, selfish and moral-less ones; seventy years in a country like Nigeria blessed with so much natural and human resources yet the world’s capital of poverty; to have worked for about half of seventy years in a Nigerian security outfit – the police force; retire with high moral integrity, loved by men and women in all the strata of the society and remain a God-fearing person, is surely a sign of love, mercy and compassion of God and as we congratulate you, we admonish you to remain close to your God.

We pray God to grant you and your family, many more useful years, good health or mind and body, peace and happiness all the remaining days of your life.

Congratulations.

+ Felix Alaba Job.

Emeritus Archbishop Of Ibadan
