The Kosoko and Popoola’s wedding was one of the weddings that lit up the month of June. Celebrities gathered to celebrate with the Kosoko family of Lagos, as Lagos society woman, Pastor Mrs Olajumoke Adebimpe and her husband, Prince Ibikunle Wakeel Kosoko’s daughter, Olakunbi walked down the aisle with her hubby, Oluwarotimi, the handsome son of Deacon Funsho and Madam Esther Iretiola Popoola in Lagos. IT WAS A 2 DAY AFFAIR
The beautiful solemnisation between Dr Olakunbi Oreoluwa Kosoko and Oluwarotimi Oluwole Popoola was a 2-day affair. The bride and groom were present at the mothers night organised by the couple’s mothers on Thursday 16th June at Radisson Blue Hotel, GRA Ikeja while the wedding proper which started with a traditional engagement was on Saturday, June 18th and rounded off with a classy reception party afterwards at the Harbour Point event Centre Victoria Island.
AT THE MOTHER’S NIGHT
The beautiful Thursday night of 16th June was on a high note as the couple’s mothers staged a very classy mothers’ night prior to the wedding proper of their children. Princess Olajumoke Kosoko and Mrs Esther Popoola were the cynosures of all eyes as many came together to celebrate them specially. It was a day of joy for the couple’s mothers as their wish came true in seeing their children journey into a beautiful life together. What do you expect from the event, Radisson Blu Hotel, the venue of the party was lit up with an array of celebrity women who attended the mothers night. There was Ankara Aso Ebi chosen for the mothers night while some other celebrity women wore white. Though the mothers night was strictly for women but the couple’s fathers and other distinguished fathers were seen at the party as well to support and also celebrate the couple. Many women came in turns to advise and pray for the couple as they begin their new life of marital bliss.
THE ENGAGEMENT AND RECEPTION PROPER
The colourful engagement and reception ceremony were the high points of this party because there was never a dull moment from start to finish. The event was well coordinated, with many guests and families looking radiant in their attires. The venue of the party, Harbour point event centre, was well transformed into heavenly and retinue of celebrity vendors were on hand to cater for guests’ needs. On the bandstand was a popular Lagos band, Faith band led by Ayo Ajeigbe.
MEET THE BRIDE AND THE GROOM
They both looked good together. Dr Olakunbi Oreoluwa and Oluwarotimi Oluwole are 2 love birds who showed that they really love each other. It showed in all their actions from the mother’s night till the wedding proper. They were well-coordinated and the chemistry between them was solid. They both met in the faraway US while studying and like they say, the rest is history. They looked beautiful for their day. Kunbi wore a gold Aso oke outfit for her traditional wedding and this looked really gorgeous on her, she later changed to an all sequined turquoise blue lace while the groom also looked dapper as he dressed in the same colour combination. They were happy and danced all through their day beaming lovely smiles.

The happiest of the day were the couple’s Mothers. They were overjoyed as many joined them in celebrating their children. Mrs Kosoko and Mrs Popoola looked beautiful in their choice of outfits. They both changed 3 times. They were seen exchanging pleasantries with their guests.

What is Lagos party without Aso Ebi? The Aso Ebi chosen for the occasion was a sequined lace and Swiss gele. Almost 90% of the guests dazzled in their Aso Ebi. Even the men were not left out of the show. The women all turned up in their emerald green and lilac combination Aso Ebi with their necks speaking loud with dainty jewellery. They were the life of the party as many of them had unlimited fun and celebrated with the couple’s parents as their children start a new journey together. Some of the celebrity women who looked stylish in their attire were the couple’s mothers who took the lead with their 3 outfits for the event. EMERALD GREEN- THE COLOUR OF THE SEASON
If you have noticed at many Owambes this year, colour green has been dominant. In fact, it has become the official colour of the year because back to back, it keeps recurring at major parties as the colour of the day. This was no exception at the Kosoko and Popoola’s children’s wedding. The colour of the day was emerald green with lilac. It came out beautifully well on all guests.
THE OWOYEMIS STOOD SOLIDLY BEHIND THE KOSOKOS
One family prominent at the wedding was the popular Salaudeen Owoyemi family. Alhaji Tajudeen and Alhaja Bola Owoyemi together with their children and family stood solidly behind the bride’s parents. They practically made sure the wedding was hitch-free by throwing their weight behind it. We scooped that their closeness was a close-knit family relationship hence the presence of the Owoyemis. They were all at the wedding and Alhaja Rikaz also wore the same attire as the bride’s mother at a point. It was at Raddisson Blu Hotel owned by the Owoyemi that the mothers night held 2-days before the wedding.
COUPLE’S MUMS DAZZLED IN 3 EXPENSIVE OUTFITS
Give it to the couple’s mum, they both dazzled in all their 3 expensive outfits. From the wine all sequined Aso Oke for the traditional engagement and the blue HOH lace for the reception party to the turquoise HOH lace which was the Aso Ijo, all the 3 looked beautiful on them. They jazzed it up with beautiful and exquisite 18-karat gold jewellery.
OVER 20 TOP EVENT VENDORS CATERED
Hospitality was top-notch at the wedding. Guests had more than enough to eat and drink as all the professional vendors delivered promptly. Guests enjoyed many delicacies from all of the over 20 vendors who catered.
FAITH BAND ON THE BANDSTAND
To serenade guests was the Faith band who not only dished out good songs to vibe with but made sure every guest was on their toes dancing and having fun.

There were many celebrities who turned out for the Kosokos and Popoolas. At the party were Prince Ajibola Adefuye, Alhaji Tajudeen Owoyemi, Aare Sodade, Otunba Jimoh, Lagos Commissioner, Dr Wale Ahmed, Barr. Kunle Sofola and many others.
