•The Popular UK Based Amala Vendor
It is no longer news that popular UK-based Amala Vendor, Alhaja Fawzia Banke Amodu clocked 70. What is trending now is how she shut down Lagos, Nigeria for the talk of town and star-studded birthday party.
The birthday party was held on Sunday, 8th January, 2023 at the Federal Palace Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos. It was attended by many A-list Yoruba movie stars who turned up for the celebrant who joined the septuagenarian club. They joined other top socialites and celebrities to celebrate the woman of the moment. Notable among the movie stars were Alhaji Taiwo Hassan, Alhaji Sulaiman Ajobiewe, Murphy Afolabi, Mrs. Morenike Alausa, Adekola Tijani, Mrs. Doyin Kukoyi, Mrs. Hassanat Akinwande, Mrs. Fausat Balogun, and many others. One of the most trusted friends of the Yoruba movie industry, Mr. Musiliu Akinsanya, a.k.a MC Oluomo, was also on ground. He came with the high-ranking members of his Eko Team.
These movie stars stormed the event because they love the celebrant and do not joke with her. They all came to support and rally round her and her family to make the event a great one. In a brief chat, veteran star actress, Mrs. Morenike Alausa, a.k.a Iya Ereko, told City People about the celebrant and why the Yoruba movie stars love her. What she said in Yoruba language can be translated as follows:
“Iya Isila is an extraordinary person. I can remember how she welcomed me with open arms on my visit to London. I’m so pleased with her. In fact, she bears the name of my second child, Fausat. I can’t thank her enough for all she has done for me. God in His infinite mercies would continue to reward her for me. The birthday celebration would not be her last. We shall all live long to celebrate her. May God continue to bless her and her children”.
“She is a virtuous woman. She has a feature which is unique to her. Whenever we travel to London, she usually receives us as if we are her blood. She always takes good care of us. Whenever we visit her, she makes us feel at home. She would go the extra mile of giving us extra foods that we would take to our lodge. When we are returning home, she would give us quality clothes and a substantial amount as a gift. If you get closer to her, you will get to know her better.
She is cool-headed and generous. You would see the huge numbers of guests who turned up for her, even though she has left Nigeria for a while. There are some people who even live here and cannot pull this huge crowd to their events. That speaks volume of the kind of person she is.”
