On Saturday 15th April, 2023, Olori Victoria Folabo Osokoya  celebrated her 70th Birthday in grand style in Abeokuta. She is the beautiful wife of former Ogun SSG, Otunba Babatunde. Albertson Osokoya (MNI). The grand and classy event started at 11am that day with a Holy Communion & Thanksgiving Service held at St. John’s Church, Igbein, Abeokuta, Ogun State. And reception followed at A Plus Event Centre, Saraki Junction, Adigbe, Abeokuta. It was a colourful reception with all the celebrity woman obeying the Navy Blue & Chanpagne Gold colour.

Let’s tell you more about the birthday girl who many say she didn’t look 70. Olori Victoria Folabo Osokoya was born 70 years ago, on 14th March, 1953 in Isara, in Remo North Local Government of Ogun State. Her father was a Cathechrist with the Methodist Mission, while her mother was a full house-wife “Iya Yard”, as she was fondly called.

She attended UMC Demonstration School, Ibadan from 1961-1966 for her Elementary Education and Anglican Girl’s Grammar School, Ijebu-Ode from 1967-1971 for her secondary education.

She joined the then Western State Civil Service in the year 1972 as a Clerical Officer. She later attended the Civil Service Training School, Ibadan where she did Secretarial Studies and the Ogun State Polytechnic, Abeokuta where she read Public Administration.

In the Civil Service, in the Western State and Ogun State 1972 as a Clerical Osokoya worked in various Ministries and Agencies including Education, Agriculture, Finance, Office of the Head of Service, Civil Service Commission, Teaching Service Special Adviser to the Executive Governor before she retired meritoriously.

Olori Fola Osokoya got married to her loving husband, Otunba Babatunde Albertson Osokoya Mni, retired Secretary to Ogun State Government (S.S.G.) and former Chairman Civil Service Commission on 26th February, 1977 and the marriage has been blessed with children and grandchildren.

She went on Holy Pilgrimage to Jerusalem and other Holy places in 1986, 1959 and 2010. She is a member of the young Women Christian Association, and a member of Mothers Union of the church.

She attended the Evangelist and Senior Evangelist Courses of Egba Anglican Diocese.

Olori Fola Osokoya is a matron to the Christian Youth Circle, Christ Army Band and Choir of her Church. She’s also a matron to “Gbe Jesu Ga” of C.A.C. Saje, Abeokuta.

In 1995 when her husband was conferred with the title of Ogboye of Kemta, Abeokuta, she was also conferred with the title of Taiye of Kemta, Abeokuta. And in 2001 when her husband was given the title of Otunba Adeloya of Omu Ijebu, she also became the Olori Yeye Tejumade of Omu Ijebu.

Her hobbies include singing (especially gospel songs) and reading (particularly the Holy Bible). Below are the tributes in her honour from her husband, children and family members.

We celebrate the Almighty God for giving her to mankind, we appreciate the Pa. Philip Jaiyesinmi Family of Sarepawo, Quarters Isara for giving her the right upbringing and the Pa. Albert Ilori Osokoya family Remo of Ile-Nla Omu-Ijebu for integrating her into their midst.

A dutiful and accomplished professional in her working days, she  has utilised her post-service life to settle into serving God and humanity.

Ageless beauty, dutiful and committed wife, a doting mother and grandmother and loving matriarch.
