At The 2024 Citypeople Awards for Excellence
The 2024 edition of Citypeople Awards for Excellence which was held last Sunday 28th April was a great success. The glamorous event held at Lagos Country Club, Ikeja was well attended by distinguished Nigerians who have done greatly for themselves, their respective business community and the society.
Among the big winners of the day’s award is Chief Dr. Yeye Afolashade Shona. She bagged Businesswoman of the Year Award and she was celebrated in style. She is indeed a woman of substance. Her many contribution to the advancement of humanity is immense. Her business acumen is also top notch and worthy of commendation. No doubt, Citypeople has carefully done the right thing to single her out for a well-deserved honour of Businesswoman of the Year.
The accomplished educationist, entrepreneur, business Leader, and a Philanthropist was born over half a century ago in Kaduna. She had her early education in the North, thereafter. She earned her first degree in Education Management from Ogun state University, now renamed as Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State, Nigeria.
Yeye Afolashade bagged a Ph.D. (Honourary Causa) from Kingdom Life University, Florida USA in 2023. She started her career as an educationist. Her quest for a well-rounded early age education for children made her venture into the provision of educational aids. Her organization: DLA Children Playground Equipment and Toys Limited collaborates with Government agencies including Universal Basic Education Commission and States Universal Basic Education Board, to ensure schools nationwide are supplied with quality educational aids.
She is a business leader and serial entrepreneur with zero tolerance for low performance. Her business interests include Amusement Parks and Food items manufacturing. Chief Dr. Yeye Afolashade has received multiple awards in recognition of her excellence in the area of education and service to humanity.
Notable among the awards she received are Sterling Award from the Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN) For an exceptional support for humanitarian Services in 2023. In 2021, Lagos State Ministry of Education presented her an award in recognition and appreciation of her contributions and support for the development and growth of special Education in Lagos State. In special recognition for her unfailing and selfless support for the development of women in Nigeria, the Association of Female Artisans, Nigeria appointed Chief Dr. Yeye Afolashade as their National Matron in 2023. In her voluntary and charitable contributions to our society, Chief Dr. Yeye Afolashade devoted most of her spare time to mentoring and counselling of women and youths. She had offered scholarships to several deserving students. She is happily married and blessed with children.
