As the celebration for Pa Ayinde Ifayemi Elebuibon is ongoing while City People Media Group hosted him and his entire family to mark his 70th birthday, Nigerians have come out en-mass to pour accolades on Baba.
The following are excerpts from praises for Baba Elebuibon
Nosa Omoreghe: A former staff of City People magazine said he grew up to see Baba on TV via his programme, Ifa Olokun Asorodayo was inspired by Baba to become a creative artist and has followed up with African culture all thanks to his exposure to Baba’s programme on TV.
Sunday Aka: He got to understand from Baba that Ifa is not all about negativity. Any Yoruba movie Baba features in is always educative because of his aura and respectable character.
Wahab Bashir: In 1981-82 Baba used to host a number of TV series which made me have admiration for Ifa especially the way he runs his incantations. You cannot condemn him as an Ifa priest based on the kind of examples Baba is displaying, congrats to you sir.
Seun Joseph a City People Staff: I was fortunate to watch Ifa Olokun Asorodayo, Baba often narrates the lessons in each episode and the voice and calmness makes me have a love for Ifa priesthood. Today the youths have lost it and I don’t know where precisely but today, I want to believe that Baba can tell us where we lost it and lead us back there. If we still have the 2 or 3 of him in this generation, we will have a transformation in our culture. May you grow old for us sir.
Dr Seye Kehinde: It is quite ironic that people come to Nigeria from abroad to learn about Nigerian culture but we are throwing what we have away. Baba believes that if we follow the teachings of Ifa religiously, corruption will be totally forgotten in Nigeria. Baba has been able to transfer the past to present and future via his oratory skill of Ifa worship. This generation must tap all that are needed from him before he travels to the great beyond.
Mrs Abiola Orisile: Away from something serious, baba has his signatures which are his cap style and “Iroke” i.e elephant tusk.
PMAN President Pretty Okafor: He’s always wearing white, he’s into creative art and that attracted me to him.
