Adeyinka Adeboye, popularly known as Boye Best is the hottest juju hip hop musician in Ogun State who has also spread his tentacles to other parts of the state. And he plays in Lagos, Oyo, Abuja and Kwara state to mention a few. He is a teacher turned musician who knows how to keep guests on their feet all day.  Two weeks ago he had his wedding introduction with his soul mate Oluwatobiloba Ladega, a pretty home girl whose family is well respected and popular in Ogun State, but sadly, two days after the introduction Boye lost his mother, Mrs. Alice Amope Adeyinka who was present at the introduction and was full of life and joyous. She also prayed for the couple deeply at the ceremony. Although she has been sick for few weeks but came out of the sickness days before the event glowing and happy.  Boye who has set his wedding date for January 20th 2018, before the death of his mother, whose final burial has been slated for December 1st 2017 opened up in this interview with BUNMI MUSTAPHA on how his mother prayed for him few hours before her death and how he met his beautiful fiancee Oluwatobiloba.

What was the relationship you had with your mom before she died?

She was the only woman I had a deep relationship with, she knows everything about me, I grew up with her and spent all my life with her, even when my siblings moved from Odeda where we were living back then to Abeokuta, I was the only one who was with her, then she was working as an auxiliary nurse at Olodo, in Odeda, and we both relocated back to Abeokuta. She was my best friend.

What were her last days like?

Even though I was not there when she gave up the ghost in the midnight, but she called me around 10pm on Monday, just to ask of me and my fiancée, because she wanted to talk to her. She told me she called her but she was not picking, I told her my fiance was probably sleeping, she then told me she wanted to pray for her and wish her good luck in our marriage, and that she really enjoyed herself during our introduction which took place the previous day. I told her she will call her in the morning, and she started praying very deeply for me and my fiancée. She prayed some prayer points that I was not really expecting from her. I was later called by 4am that she wanted to see me, although I had already planned that I was going to pick her up in the morning for her check up, so I felt she wanted me to come so we can go to the hospital early, not knowing she already gave up the ghost around 2am, few hours after praying for me.

What are the things you will never forget about her?

So many things, her hard working spirit, the love ,the respect,  she calls both the young and the old aunty, don’t be surprised if she kneels down for someone as young as her children while greeting. I took that from her though, she is always full of life and smiling, you will never know if something is bothering her or not, she is the most hard working  woman I have ever seen. She was into farming back in the days, we used to go to the farm together with basket of cassava on my head, and we will trek many miles. All alone she sent all her children to school, she is a warrior, a mother and hard working woman. The final burial will come up on the 1st of December, and why we picked that date was because, my wedding was already scheduled for 19th and 20th of January 2018, and we had to respect my mom first.

How have you been coping since then?

I can’t lie to you, I can feel the absence of my mom already, I am really missing her, and am praying to God to help me cope with this hole in my heart, I know God will give me the grace to help me cope.

Now let’s talk about your wedding, you got engaged few months ago which came as a surprise to everyone, but can you tell us how you met your fiancée?

I had an interview with City People sometime ago, and she reads City People a lot. She read my story and she felt we could be friends, she is not a sociable person at all but she picked the interest from there that we could be just friends, she followed me on instagram, and I later discovered she always likes my pictures so I started doing the same. I later summoned the courage to send a message to her that I like her and would love to see her.  It took like two months before she accepted my invitation to hang out with me. On October 1st 2015 we eventually met at Continental Suites and started as friends, and as God wants it, we ended up falling in love with each other and now our wedding bells are ringing already.

How did you know she was the one?

She told me a lot of things when we met, and mere looking straight into her eyes, I knew she meant everything she said. She is full of life. Immediately she left, I told few of my friends about her , and I mentioned her surname, they were like, oh, Ladega family, they told me the family is a popular and well respected family in Abeokuta, that they trained their children well. I took that information in one hand but I wanted to know her more on my own, and as time went by. I discovered that she is a very homely girl, not the outgoing and not the sociable type, and being a musician, and my status I can identify any lady who is a socialite in this town and am sure she is not a popular girl, and my spirit just spoke to me , like some angels were telling me this is the woman you should spend the rest of your life with.

How have you been coping with female fans?

In fact, after I engaged her, it has been so hectic, but am coping, although most of my fans are female fans, but I didn’t throw them away, I didn’t push them away. I make sure that I separate my music career with my personal life, I always let everyone know that I am taken and this is my woman.

You keep giving your fans a new style and fresh tunes every time, what has been your secret?

All thanks to God, because without his wisdom and grace, I won’t be able to go this far, and again I am an outgoing person, I don’t spend all my time at home, I go out, I mingle and associate myself with people, but wherever I am,  I always want to know what music is keeping people happy and on their feet. For instance, if I hear a music now and I see people dancing to it, whenever am on stage I want people to feel that same groove too, it might not be the same way, and being an entertainer you have to look for what is in vogue, what people are listening to, but mainly, the secret is just Almighty God.
