Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho welcomes Zlatan Ibrahimovic back this weekend and is asked if the veteran Swede can play alongside big Belgian Romelu Lukaku. “Easy,” he says. “Good players can play together.”

Ibrahimovic has not played since April because of ruptured cruciate ligaments but Mourinho says: “He has made a full recovery but we can’t expect him to play full 90 minutes or consecutive matches. Fitness and sharpness is everything.”

Paul Pogba who has also been on the sidelines for months now will make his return to the team against Newcastle United on Saturday, Mourinho announced on Friday.

France midfielder Pogba has been out since September with a hamstring injury, while former Sweden striker Ibrahimovic has not played since damaging knee ligaments against Anderlecht in April

Mourinho, whose team will set a new club record of 38 matches unbeaten at home if they avoid defeat against Newcastle tomorrow.

“We don’t play for records. If we concede a goal and we score two at least I am happy. We defend as a team. Our numbers show exactly that.

“The objective is to win, not to not concede. It is not an obsession. We lost the last match (at Chelsea). We need the points, we have a difficult match. We have to try and get the points we need.”
