There are strong indications that the former Deputy Governor of Lagos, Mrs. Victoria Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire who works in Abuja is being tipped to be the next Lagos West Senator. She is to take over from Senator Olamilekan Yayi. Victoria Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire was the former Deputy-Governor of Lagos State from 2011 to 2015. Prior to that she was the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation 2003-2011. President Muhammadu Buhari’s appointed the former Lagos Deputy Governor, Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, as his Senior Special Assistant on Sustainable Development Goals.
She attended Salvation Army Primary School, Agege, Lagos (1965–1971), and she finished her secondary school education from St Joseph’s Secondary School, Mangoro, situated at Ikeja Local Government Area of Lagos State. She is an alumna of Lagos State University (LASU) and was awarded an honorary degree by the university. She has a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a diploma in social works.
Princess Orelope, born into the royal lineage of Prince Kareem-Laka of Akeja Oniyanru and Amore Ruling House of Lagos State. She is the first girl and the third born out of 13 children. Orelope-Adefuire is popularly called ‘Iya Alanu’ which means ‘cheerful giver’. She worked at the Front Office Executive at PZ Industries, Nigeria Plc. On July 9, 2016, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefuire staged a beautiful wedding for her daughter Esther Olaleye Olawepo which took place at the Arch Bishop Vining Memorial Cathedral, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos.
She is an administrator, social worker, politician and princess from a royal family. By the start of her pursuit in Politics, she was elected into the Lagos State House of Assembly to represent Alimosho Constituency I, where she creditably gained the respect of her fellow colleagues and was subsequently elected as the Chairman, House Service Committee. In the year 2002, she was appointed as the Electoral Commissioner at the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commissioner.
From 2003-2007, she was appointed Lagos State Commissioner for Women Affairs and was subsequently appointed to same position between 2007 and 2011. By 2011, she was elected the Deputy Governor of Lagos State and occupied the position till the end of the administration of His Excellency, Babatunde Raji Fashola in 2015.

For months, many people have been wondering what the next move of Ogun East Senator, Lekan Mustapha will be. Many have wondered if he would go for re-election or contest the governorship, as it was rumoured before.
But his next move has become clear. He is seeking re-election and he has already collected his form.
But what shocked many political watchers is when Gov. Dapo Abiodun raised the hands of Senator Lekan Mustapha up at a meeting meaning he is in support of his ambition. Why that move further shocked many is because before now Mustapha has always been in the camp of Senator Ibikunle Amosun. They have always not only been political associates, but they are also close friends. Over the last 6 years there has been no party, Mustapha hosted in his Ijebu-Igbo home town that Amosun did not attend physically. Does this mean Senator Lekan Mustapha has dumped Amosun camp for Dapo Abiodun camp? Many analysts wondered if it was just a symbolic raising of hand or suggesting an endorsement.
This is because before now, Senator Lekan Mustapha has been with the Amosun faction of APC. He was still even at Amosun’s declaration for President a few days back. The rumour was that before now, he wanted to contest for Governor, but Amosun does not seem to be looking in the direction of Ijebu for now. He wants the governorship to go back to Ogun West for his candidate, explained an insider.
That is why both Akinlade & Bisi Otegbeye have picked up governorship forms. So this already takes Lekan Mustapha out of the governorship race, because he cannot unilaterally fight for the guber ticket on his own. He doesn’t have that courage, structure nor widespread acceptability to travel that route. So before he is snookered out of political permutation, that is why he went to pick the Senate form. And since there doesn’t seem to be my promotion upstairs while in the Amosun camp, he chose to quickly cross back to Dapo Abiodun’s camp.
