Students from the Media and Communication department of the prestigious Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti on Monday, March 19, 2018, stormed City People Media Group’s corporate office on a field visit to learn the practical side of digital media journalism.
The students, who were lead by a team of academic staff: Mrs. Omolola Oluwasola. Mr. Olayiwola Ajisafe, Mr. Tiwalola Obajuluwa, Mr. Plus Ibitoye, Miss Ike Bodunde, were grouped in two batches to undergo a rigorous practical class, which was anchored by City People’s Production Manager, Mr. Wahab Bashir.
They were able to experience everything from Print journalism, Online journalism, the role of various departments in the media industry.
They were also taught the fundamentals of blogging and Vlogging and exploring the opportunities enmeshed in Google. In this session, City People’s Online Editor, Joseph Seun taught the students the introductory steps to;
• Choose a Blogging platform, domain name, and hosting option.
• Design a Blog using a simple theme.
• Modify the Blog to get the desired look and feel.
• Select the best plugins Blog.
• Write compelling content that adds value to readers.
City People’s Publisher, Dr. Seye Kehinde while welcoming the students, took them through the journey of how City People was birthed and how the company has grown over the years to become Nigeria’s oldest and most consistent Softsell in the last 22 years.
The Deputy Managing Director, Mr. Francis Owojori also describes all the process of circulation of the weekly prints and the print run per week
The students also displayed exceptional intelligence by giving suggestions and recommendations to help improve the brand.
