Agbaakin OLANREWAJU MABAWONKU Honoured

• Becomes Baba Egbe Regberegbe Okunrin Akile Ijebu

November 11th, 2023 was a day worthy of note in Ijebu-Isonyin, Ogun State. It was a day members of an emerging Ijebu age-grade social group, Regberegbe OKunrin Akile-Ijebu officially installed popular Lagos-based real estate player, Agbaakin Olanrewaju Tunwase Adesimbo Mabawonku as their patron and Baba Egbe.

The group who looks forward to getting the Awujale’s approval very soon comprises members born between 1986 and 1988, tentatively called Egbe Bobasete Okunrin Akile-Ijebu. On approval, they become the youngest age-group among the long list of Regberegbes in Ijebuland.

The group has indeed started on a bright note, making a big statement of intent with the choice of the successful businessman who is seriously making waves in the real estate industry. Agbaakin Olanrewaju FCAI, ANIVS, ESV. is the CEO of Lagos Skyline and Waterfront company and also a Director at Probity and Company Nig. Ltd.

He is of the direct lineage of Awujale Adesimbo Abofin Tunwase alaia Mabawonku of blessed memory. The Ijebu Isonyin-born patron is very prominent among his peers particularly among his own age group, Egbe Bobagunwa Okunrin Akile-Ijebu where he was made the Agbaakin of their group. And he is no doubt living up to the status of the title given to him.

The installation ceremony was a glamorous one. It was held within the premises of the popular Tunwase Adesimbo Mabawonku’s Quarters in Ijebu-Isonyin, a community very close to Ijebu-Ode. It was an all-white affair for members of the new group as they all styled in their complete Agbada regalia. Agbaakin himself and his wife, Mrs. Opeyemi also made fashion statements at the event as he styled in a white complete agbada outfit with a well-designed purple cap. His wife on the other hand complemented her husband well as she came all out looking beautiful and radiant in her purple but well styled outfit.

Notable among dignitaries who graced ceremony are HRH Oba Abdul Salami Omotayo, the Saderiren of Isoyin; Imam Ratibi Mosque in Isoyin Alhaji Kamorudeen Alaga; Olori Adenike, wife of the Atayero of Aromoko Ekiti who doubles as Iya Egbe of the group; Hon. Lukman Adeleye, Gunwa Oladimeji Otubu, Gunwa Oriyomi Oreagba, Chief Mrs. Balogun Oladunni, and many others but not leaving out the female wing of the emerging group and members of Egbe Bobagunwa Group, both male and female in their variations. They were all present to witness the installation of Agbaakin Mabawonku as the substantial Baba Egbe Bobasete.

Activities carried out before the proper installation was done include opening prayer which was anchored by a renown Islamic cleric and Imam of Ratibi mosque in Isonyin. This was followed by introduction of the new age group, their aims and objectives as well as introduction of their members as anchored by the group leader, Hon. Samod Balogun. Then the newly installed Baba Egbe was singled out for royal blessing from The Saderiren of Isoyin. Members of the new group were given golden words of admonition on how best to coordinate themselves as a formidable group.

The peak of the event was when Agbaakin Mabawonku was called to the centre stage for decoration as the Baba Egbe, he was accompanied by his wife while guests and the entire people at the event rose to give them a standing ovation. This was for the man of the moment whose impressive profile was read to the audience. He was pronounced as the youngest of all Baba Egbes in Ijebuland. He was therefore decorated by the leader of the Bobasete group, Hon. Samod Balogun.  The man of the moment was also given an award of recognition as the true future of Ijebuland. All These were done under fun-fare as the music band lit up the stage with good music. Then family, friends, associates and well-wishers joined to celebrate Agbaakin Mabawonku on his latest feat achieved on the social scene in his hometown.
